This is my third attempt at a weight loss journal on the W.I.S.H. boards. My other attempts have always ended in failure. I have either maintained my weight or gained. I've thought a lot about what I need to do to lose the weight and have put a new game plan into place.

I am going to continue Weight Watchers, for the group support and I just hate to give up on it now when I did lose 15 lbs on it a few years ago. I have added exercise in a way I never have before. I took advantage of discounts on gym membership through my school district and personal training packages. I am now working with a personal trainer once a week and then going 3-5 days on my own to work out.

Another component I have added is a Bodybugg. I first heard about this gizmo on Biggest Loser and have been intrigued. My gym is 24 hour Fitness and they are the ones that sell it. I took advantage of a sale and purchased it. I love it!

The Bodybugg contains technology that can calculate calories burned with 90% accuracy .You then upload it to your computer and track your food on their web site. It gives you a graphic that shows you your calories burned vs. calories consumed and what your deficit is. It also gives you a breakdown of macronutrients in your diet (protein, fat, and carbs) and even an eating plan that hits your target calories and macronutrient breakdown if you choose to eat it.

I am losing weight for several reasons: I want to lose the pounds so that I will look and feel better. I want to reverse my prediabetes and stave off the onset of full blown type 2. I know it will happen one day, but the longer I can keep it at bay the fewer complications. I also want to one day return to performing at Disney ,and I cannot do that at the weight I am at. So I have recommitted and lost about 5 lbs so far. I am determined to keep it up this time!

It's a new day....what happened in the past - you move on, you learn from and that's that. It sounds like you're making positive changes!

Good luck and thanks for the info on the BodyBugg thingee

Cheers, Deb

Yay! I just got back from my workout and updated my Bodybugg for today, my calorie deficit is at 904. My target deficit (aimed at a two pound weight loss) is 1,000 per day. At 500 per day you lose 1 lb. a week.

One thing that it has helped me do is be more honest with myself in my eating habits. On just WW I was horrid at logging. Having a chart that shows me exactly how I am doing has given me the motivation to log. (That, and I want to make it worth the price!). The other way it has helped me is to see how I am doing throughout the day and make decisions based on that. I was very tempted not to work out tonight, but I saw that my deficit was less than 500, so I knew that I needed to. Without it I would not have worked out, and would have just assumed I was okay.

For those who are interested, here is the graphic you get each day:

I have a Bugg, too, and am back on it after becoming allergic to it....hives.....and gaining. It is a GREAT tool!! I've had mine since March.

I lost .4 this week. I'm not entirely happy, but not entirely surprised. With Halloween, we were taking breaks in a picnic tent at Worlds of Fun so I had no access to a microwave and was relying on buffet food for meals. Plus, we had lots of parties at school. I am more confident that this week I will post a better loss.

I did not have a big deficit Wednesday or Thursday, but today I am posting well over a 700 calorie deficit. I was worried. We had the feel good cart today at school, it comes around to teachers with lot of food. I had some veggies and hummus and a mini red velvet cupcake. Then of course there was the applesauce we cooked in my classroom, and pizza for lunch (I forgot my lunch today.)

However, we had a 2 hour basketball practice after school. We are playing a game in December against the cops as a fundraiser. And this is no simple pick up game in the schoolyard. Oh no, of course with my luck my colleagues are out for blood. Our P.E. teacher Casey (and our team coach) is a hall of fame basketball player. Let me tell you, when you are 4'10" and trying to keep up with these huge guys playing basketball for two hours- it will give you a workout! It doesn't help that my asthma is still acting up. I was planning to go to the gym, but by the time we are done, I was so exhausted and had such a migraine that I decided I had done enough. Thankfully Bodybugg agrees! I don't think I've been that sweaty or tired since I did parades for Disney.

I am worried about tomorrow. I have a Halloween party with the other Worlds of Fun supervisors (we worked Halloween, so we have it a week late.) I am sure there will be plenty of food, and I am just never good about controlling myself around food. I am determined to snack sensibly and not overindulge.

This is one of the pictures I am using for my inspiration. This is about halfway to my goal weight and was taken my second CP. My roommates gave me a makeover before going to PI. It was a lot of fun.

At this weight I was officially in the healthy range, albeit on the higher end of that.

Man, I have not felt like doing anything today. I finally got myself to the gym, but cut my workout short because I really wasn't feel well. I'm not posting much of a deficit today at all. I'm hoping that tomorrow will go better.

We had another basketball practice yesterday. Who knew basketball was a full contact sport? :rotfl: I did that instead of the gym, but managed to post a good deficit yesterday.

I felt like crap today, so no workout. I barely made it through the school day. I'm having lots of para drama in my class, and am ready to just quit and be done with it all, but I would never do that to my kids. At least it ended on a good note. I lost 1.8!

Congrats on the loss! Good luck this week!

I haven't updated this in forever.

I have been able to lose 5 lbs on WW so far. I have lost more than that but have been kind of bouncing around with all the holiday stuff. I stocked up on healthy food yesterday and have the following plan in mind to reach my goal:

-Journal every single food, every single point
-Eat out one day per week (no more)
-Prepare more healthy foods and try to stay away from the frozen dinners.
-Go to the gym 3x per week and work my way up to 5x

I like the healthy choice and Lean Cuisine frozen dinners, but they are very full of sodium and even the healthy dinners are way too high in carb content.

Happy New Year!

Here is a before photo, this was taken at my graduation in May when I received my Master's:

This is at my heaviest weight.

Way to go on losing 5 pounds, Jessi!!!!:cheer2:

Your plan to make your goal looks like a good one!:thumbsup2

Hope you have a great Sunday!

You have a good start and that's a great plan for the new year! :goodvibes

I think one of the things you said in an earlier post was about "being honest with yourself"...that's huge. :)

Congrats on the 5 pounds, and I think journaling is a great way to keep going, stay motivated and be honest with yourself with your struggles and what helps you feel great....great learning tool, and perfect place to express yourself.

Here's to your continued success

We didn't have school today, and we won't tomorrow either. It's been too long since I hit the gym. So I plan on going. I'm also going to talk to my trainer about getting back on the schedule now that my hand is healed. I also WI tomorrow so we'll see how I did. This weekend I did not do a good job with the eating. It's getting better, but not where it needs to be.

Good luck at weigh in today! Hope all goes well when you meet with your trainer.

Yeah, so weigh in and workout did not happen at all. It was too snowy so I ended up laying around the house for most of the day. I am planning to go tomorrow provided: a.) I can actually get out of the house and b.) They are open. I'm getting so sick of snow. This is our third or fourth snow storm since Christmas and it's only January. I really miss Florida!

One thing I've been debating back and forth is whether or not I want to try out for entertainment at Worlds of Fun. I love rides and nobody really cares about their entertainment, but I did enjoy working for entertainment for Disney. I wouldn't mind being a lead or a supervisor and really working with their characters. It's almost painful for me to watch their characters after having done the same job at Disney! The other thing I am considering is a stage show. I just can't decide.
