Mornin' everybody!

Grumpy Pirate -- we're thinking about a trip to California including Disneyland and San Diego. So please tell me, is the San Diego Zoo really as great as I've heard it is? Tell me something else about your city like the must sees. Thanks

Nothing to see here...move on!!!

heheheheh

Well, if you are going to drive down, set aside a day to see the zoo, keep in mind that it is built on several canyons, so walking up and down steep hills would be what you need to plan on. they do have a tour bus that will take you around (extra of course)

Along the same lines is the San Diego Wild Animal Park (think of a zoo REALLY spread out, with no cages) that is in the North County (Escondido) A lot of walking but a really nice day! (we prefer the WAP, because its out in the "country", the San Diego Zoo is actually downtown, in Balboa park, surrounded by the city.) You might actually like that better. You can even feed the Giraffes and get REALLY up close with some animals! They have a tram that takes you out into the park, and you are surrounded by free roaming animals. heres a link. (yes the zoo and the WAP are affiliated)

The drive is about 90 miles or so, depending on where you are staying, plan on two hours each way. (three hours if you are in San Diego/L.A. rush hour traffic) My suggestion is to either bring a GPS or rent a car with one.

In north county (Carlsbad) is Legoland, (another day) and is geared for younger children. but adults enjoy it too!

Sorry, but its REALLY cold here too!!!

I have to wear long pants today!!!

it only has gotten up to about 74!!!!

Brrrrrrrr!!!!!

Oh SHUT UP!!!!!!!!!!!!! This was the coldest day since last February. It only got to 26 degrees today. It was 14 below normal temps today.

Well, iffn ya got something to add there froggy, JUMP in!!!

hehehehehe

Actually everything you said is good :rotfl: But you forgot Seaworld! I don't know if she'd like to see that though. I prefer the zoo to the wild animal park but I seem to be the minority on that one.

And I agree with you, it's cold! It's an unbearable 65 ;)

YEAH!!! we just got back from Trader Joes, so cold I actually had to wear my Disney Hooded sweatshirt!!!

Seaworld is way to expensive, and would add another full day!!

Welcome!

Thanks for the info on San Diego's WAP and Seaworld Grumpy and See! WAP sounds like more fun than the zoo.

It's really your preference. The WAP has a different, more open feel. But you'll see way more types of animals at the zoo.

maybe she should see both, that way she could decide, plus it will be another day in San Diego, (bring money) and add a day for seaworld, then another for LegoLand..and dont forget going to Horton plaza for shopping, and there is a factory outlet Mall near LegoLand (probably better another day for that)

You could stay at the Hotel Del in Coronado.

Try a Rubios for some really good fish tacos and burritos. Hmm, don't forget Seaport Village on the San Diego bay, and then take the ferry across to Coronado. And Visit the USS Midway in San Diego (add another day or two)

hehehehehe

Coronado is so wonderful :lovestruc Although I have serious anxiety about driving over that bridge :scared: I don't think Legoland would be a place I would go unless I had kids

 Seeing as my awesome roomie is here... I'm joining in.:thumbsup2

Legoland looks cool, but not a place I'd just go. My brother would love it though. I'm too dedicated to WDW to go anywhere else.:rotfl:

Hello all! Since we're thinking of a trip to DL next year, I'm liking the San Diego tips too. Though DH thinks that we'll go to DL and the rest of the time he'll try to get me on some game show. He expects I can win him lots of money.

I started work yesterday, so I'm still trying to work in when I can DIS. I can't DIS from work. I'll be back later to talk about my job. Loving it!

Hey roomie :goodvibes This is an awesome place to hang out. I know what you mean about not wanting to go anywhere else. I don't have as much fun when I go to Knott's Berry Farm (theme park) or six flags. They're fun but just not Disney!

My family and I would like to move to southern California and get APs to Legoland!!....:rotfl2:

.

My cousins like legoland but i've neve been. It's a tad pricey. And I have anxiety about falling on sharp, lego corners :rotfl:

I want to hear all about the new job!

My second day went well too. I'm just trying to relearn some of the things I did before and learn new things they started after I left 2 1/2 years ago.

I work for the city government TV station as a writer/producer. I was full time when I was there before my last kid, but thanks to government cut backs, I'm only part-time (24 hours) now. It actually works out great. I set my hours to be 6 hours a day 4 times a week. I can drop both girls off at school and pick them up without having to pay for childcare for the oldest. My DH travels for his job, so I had to make sure my hours worked for when he's here or away. I really love the guys I work with and my boss. I also love my job. I used to produce news, but it was so much death and destruction. This year I get to set up a televised debate, create a historical piece about the city, and work on a business show among other things. I am very excited to be back at work. Luckily, my little one loves her new school, so that guilt went out the window.

Mean Queen, sounds like you found yourself the perfect job. Not many people can say they love their job and the hours.
