Thanks! He's nowhere as good looking as Johnny Depp though XD

Yeah I definately noticed how racey it was. My sociology teacher loves the show and she's like 60! It cracks me up.

This is totally random but i'm watching Goosebumps to get in a Halloweeny mood (excuse my excessive use of that word). Did anyone ever read those books when they were kids?

No, but I loved watching the series. Though I think I was a grown up at the time. :rolleyes1

I'm technically and adult now and I still watch them XD I love Casper and Hocus Pocus too

Okay, I'm gonna admit something really embarassing, and if any of you repeat it, I'll deny I ever wrote it. I absolutely loved the series Charmed (Alyssa Milano, Holly Marie Combs, Rose McGowan/Shannen Doherty). I've admitted it. There. :rolleyes1

Ok, I have not talked about this before b/c I have been in denial. I need to start getting excited and I thought you guys could help me out. I am totally stressing about it b/c our waterfront property that was supposed to be so easy to sell, has not been sold. I am not normally the kind to spend $ when we don't have it so this is hard for me.

We are going to Orlando soon. When I think of it, I feel sick. The trip will be paid off by the end of they year, but I keep thinking it's $ that should have went to our existing debt and a lap top for my daughters graduation.

I told my kids 3 years ago we would go on a family trip when they are each Seniors. Of course 1 thing after another kept happening. Such as last year my car trasmission went and we had to charge $3,000 for another one. However, I didn't feel right going back on our plans and telling my daughter we were no longer going.

We have been to Disney as a family once 3 years ago. We saved for years and years and it was our 1st real family vacation. We had only done things like going camping for long weekends and visiting friends/relatives in Maryland and Ft Lauderdale. Unfortunately, I has pretty sick with a sinus infection, but got a little better with each day. My daughter however was VERY sick the entire time and it got worse with each day. She flew with an ear infection and her ear popped and she said she had never felt so much pain in her life. I thought flying with my sinus infection was bad enough. I though my head was going to explode. Her asthma and coughing was so bad, we should have went to the hospital. We realized later her airways were filling with mucus making her cough and throw up several times. So when we got home I told her of my plans to take them each on a Senior trip and she chose to go back to Disney and hopefully experience it without feeling like she was dying. :lmao:

I feel guilty for spending the $ we don't have, but I need to get excited about it. I need to get ready! Thanks for listening to my long post.

I forgot about Goosebumps on TV. I watched those as an adult too. Oh yeah, we are the same age, aren't we

My daugher just discovered this show about a year ago. She loves it. I watched a few and found it easy to like.

That's nothing to be ashamed of! I love those kinds of shows and movies. Supernatural is one of my favorite shows.

I'm sorry to hear about your financial trouble but my mom and I are in the same boat. She's nice enough to let me live with her while i'm taking classes and my dad is non-existent. She makes good money but has a lot of debt from their divorce. But she works really hard and even though we don't really have the money to spend on a trip we really need a break. A trip to WDW will do us both good. I kept asking her if she was sure she wanted to spend the money and yes, it could be put to use somewhere else, but we really need this trip.

So I know the stress you're feeling but relax! If you think about it life's so short and while you could save your money it's better spent on family memories. I hope you really enjoy your trip and don't worry!

You know, I can understand having financial woes. But one of the biggest pieces of advice I can give anyone is when they get paid, pay themselves first. Then do with that money what you want. In your case, you are putting $$ to a family vacation you will never be able to have again.

As a child, my parents had a pretty difficult financial situation. Their home went into foreclosure several times, and we spent more time with a disconnected phone than a connected one. My best memory as a child was a visit to the 1982 World's Fair in Knoxville, Tennessee, followed by a trip to Biltmore Estate in Asheville, North Carolina. My parents, I know now, could not afford that trip, but I'm glad we had that time together. That was such a happy time for us. . .carefree and warm. What I'm trying to say is, the bills will still be there later and the problems with everything will still exist, but your kids will only be kids once. While a trip to Orlando is not something every child should have by right, I think a family vacation at least every other year is a must. You will find a way to work all of this out.

Well said :thumbsup2

You guys are great. I am feeling better about this trip. We will go make some memories and continue with the bills when I get back.

Thanks for taking the time to write about your experiences. My Dad was non-existent for many years and I also grew up in a home with financial struggles.

Just remember I really get financial difficulties. My family lives off of 2 teacher's salaries in one of the lowest paying states for teachers in the US. We started paying for our trip in January. We paid monthly payments until we had the trip paid off. It became one of our bills. I have gone without my "me" spending money for 9 months now because I put it to the trip. I know if I were to do it any other way other than making the monthly payments, then I would not have been able to take my family. At the same time, I owe a family trip to my kids, as they are good kids, make good grades in school, and sacrifice a lot their friends don't have to because our family is not as well off as some of their friends.

Unfortunately, it seems no matter what you do there will always be bills waiting. However, kids grow up way too quickly and then before you know it they're gone so spend as much time with them as you can. You guys will have a great time! :thumbsup2

Um. So do I. My youngest's name is Paige. Though Phoebe and Piper were options. Not Prue. I'm also a big fan of Buffy, Angel, and other supernatural tv series like that.

I saved coins each week and 2 family members give me their bottles to help out. Too bad things happened and I had to use most of it. I also got the 2nd puppy :lovestruc that I did not plan on and I wouldn't change that for the world. We are a 1 income family and my children have less than their friends too. I weigh my options regarding work, but not much around my little town. My daughter needs a job too and we only have 1 car to share so I need to stay in the area. Thankfully my husband has use of a work truck and his company pays the truck gas. Wish I could say my kids make all good grades. :rotfl2:

Yes, they sure do grow up fast. Mine are teenagers. I miss them being young when they are home with you and you know they are safe.

SadieDog...family trips are important. We are taking ...probably our last "just the 6 of us" trip in may. And with the way things are going with the economy I feel like I'm fighting tooth and nail to make this trip happen. All the bills, and everything else we need to work on will be right here waiting for us when we get back. so if you can swing it, GO!! And have a blast planning it. After all that is part of the fun too. :thumbsup2 Order a new Disney DVD ya'll watch it together and let the excitement begin!! :goodvibes
