POURING here right now. It was already 40 when I got up at 6:00, but when I drove my son to school I noticed that they did put salt down at some point during the night.

We had a dusting of snow last night and now it's starting to rain. We will get so much rain that we have flood warnings.

OMG, Thanksgiving in 2 days. I have so much to do.

We're going out for Thanksgiving. Surprise, Surprise! We're going to a hotel that is having a buffet and live jazz. Otherwise I would be too. Is all your shopping done yet?

No overnight guests. We all live in the same small town. There will only be 12 of us.

Hey guys, just wanted to log in and tell you all that Charlie is doing fine. He went to the vet today and his blood counts look good.

The accused men have a rough time in front of them. PETA is involved now and is taking over the case. They'll be sending us attorneys this week.

Good morning. I am very lucky to have power, water and heat this morning. There are thousands of homes without power and we only went a few hours in the middle of the night. It must have been something that needed care right away like a tree on the lines.

I have so much to do that it's hard to get motivated to start.

Today my beasts are 1, or as Smiley would say, my Buicks. Of course they are so big that they have not looked like puppies for a long time.

Speaking of Smiley, I hope she is ok.

I just made up a list of what I need to accomplish today....yikes! DH has had the flu or something the last few days and I'm really hoping he feels better today! I'm also hoping none of the rest of us get it.

SadieDog I'm glad you have power back! We didn't get any of the forecast high winds over here but we heard about the coast and most of Maine that did! Nice to see it DRY out there today. And a big Happy Birthday to your "buicks"!

Thanks for Charlie's well-wishes. The lady who handles animal cruelty cases in the county notified PETA. About a month after we got Charlie, he was outside around a local pond and somehow got a fish hook stuck in his mouth. It was dark, no vets were open, so she came out to our house and removed the hook for us. She is a vet herself, but works for the county. She loves Charlie and has visited him several times since. When she heard about what happened, she called. PETA has attempted to contact the hunters, they will not respond.

Which leads me to our decision. After looking at the pictures on the PETA website and thinking about it prayerfully, we've decided on a vegetarian diet. We seriously considered veganism, but felt like that was too much of a shock--we still have chickens who lay eggs! It won't be much on my kids anyway--they won't eat any meat other than fish and poultry anyway. We are going to continue with fish and poultry, but will limit poultry to free range poultry products.

Anyway, I will probably be MIA for a while. We have loads to do at home. I will not, however, forget about my TR, which is close to being finished.

Good for you Amanda! You and your family will have excellent health benefits. I used to be vegan for a long time and sort of slipped back into regular eating. But after our October trip I decided to go back to vegan. I love animals so much and it suits my lifestyle so it's a good choice for me And if you don't like it you can always go back but it's great that you're trying something new! I hope Charlie is doing well

creativeamanda, I only eat fish and poultry as well. I do feel bad when I see a chicken or turkey though and if I think about eggs too much while eating them, it makes me sick. I have to eat my eggs fast.

Just wanted to send you all a quick "Happy Thanksgiving" from the Disney Magic. It looks like I'll have lots of catching up to do when we get back. I have met a lot of Dis'ers on the cruise. It'd be fun if one day we could have a Tagless/Formerly Tagless cruise.
