May they are hoping to catch Santa in the act.

I hadn't thought about that! I think shiny lights automatically attract them. My one cat used to launch herself off the couch into the tree so she could get the ornaments and play with them. I'd find them under the couch :rotfl:

LEGOMOM - DH drove through Ocala today and marveled that gas was only $2.19. It's $2.49 here. The premium passes include the water parks, regular annual includes the 4 main parks with no blackouts, and seasonal includes the 4 parks with blackouts (what we currently own.) MNSSHP and MVMCP are not included with the passes. Just giving you a little more info before you're here next year. ;)

ANNA - I like the peppermint theme! I'm sure the cats do love it.

Amanda - sorry about the education cut backs. It always stinks when education takes a hit. My DH works for a college and hasn't got a raise in 2 years, yet insurance keeps going up.

Thanks guys!

Alright guys, drumroll please....

TADA!

Holy smokes about the gas!! Wow. We're at $2.55 at our local station here. I was looking at rentals on-line last night for that area. It's not that we'll get something much bigger than what we have now, but the houses are clean and bright and open and just look really, really nice! A palm tree in the yard is a nice touch, too.

I just looked up passes on my "AAA" member site. As you mentioned, the premium passes include the water parks and Wide World of Sports and all that other extra stuff that I don't think we'll really use. If we were moving to the Orlando area, I'd go for the water parks. The next pass offered is a FL resident Annual Pass; that is the 4 parks with no blackout dates, and what I'll get our first year. I know the special parties aren't included in that price but if our park admission is already paid for, it'll make forking over the cash for those slightly less painful...:scared:

Meanwhile it's 23 degrees outside here and 63 in the house.....

Good morning everyone. Glad you had good trips Amanda and Anna.

LegoMom, I'm pretty chilled too b/c it's 62 in my house. At least the sun is out. It's not as easy getting myself fired up to walk the dogs when it's cold and windy.

I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw there was a Xmas tree up already.

The first year we got passes, we did the premium. But that was when our first DD was 2 and free. When we had to pay for her, we bumped down. Next year, she goes up to adult prices AND our youngest turns 3. :scared1: So I think we'll stick with the seasonal for now.

BTW - I have my a/c on. :surfweb:

I bet your heat was on Tuesday and Wednesday, though. I thought about you and your dh on Wednesday as we were walking through Animal Kingdom in the cold. I wondered if it was cold enough for him to go to AK.

Can I make a confession, btw? I absolutely hate DHS/MGM. Hate. It. IMO, the only things worth seeing there are Toy Story, the characters, Star Tours, and maybe RnR. Last week, we were there for 2-3 hours in the morning, went to DTD, and returned for a late lunch/dinner and fantasmic. I think next time, we'll get park hoppers and do DHS and AK on the same day.

I understand. HS/MGM is my family's least favorite park so 1/2 day is enough for us too. However 1/2 day at AK would not be enough. We have never seen Fantasmic; it was closed when we were there. Our must do's at HS are RnR Coaster, Tower of Terror and now Toy Story. We saw the stunt show and liked it but don't need to do it again. Our 1st trip we saw Indiana Jones so no need to do that again either. We don't care for Star Tours as it made my daughter and I feel sick so that is also out. I was glad we did the Backlot Tour but I don't think anyone would care to do it again. I love seeing anything from the Pirates movies.

Toy Story was so much fun! Since we were up late at MNSSHP the day before, we arrived too late for a Toy Story Fastpass. The wait was always 60-70 minutes. It was about time to leave for the day, but I didn't want to go without riding Toy Story. We were standing outside of Toy Story discussing waiting in line. I said I was not leaving the park until I rode Toy Story and they were not very happy with me, but I knew they would like it once on. Then a CM came up to us and started asking questions. Have you rode Toy Story today? Have you ever ridden Toy Story? Do you want to stand in line for 70 minutes? Would you like a Fastpass? YES!!!! :woohoo: He gave us a fastpass and waited in line with us. I wanted to kiss him. We kept thanking him and letting him know how much we appreciated it. We all loved the ride, including my mother. What FUN! Lucky things like that don't normally happen to my family! :upsidedow

The heat's too smelly to turn on unless absolutely necessary. :scared: We actually just bundled up and had the windows open during the day. It would have been perfect AK weather!

Except for TSM (which I noticed you didn't mention, hmmm) and the Osbourne Lights, I am also not a huge fan of DHS. I do love the wandering street performers though. I could interact with them all day. We usually just run to DHS, do a ride or two, mess with some street performers and leave. It is definitely a half day park. We haven't done Fantasmic for a long time. It's a bit scary for the youngest.

Sadiedog! Sounds like you had your own Disney dream come true! That ride is so great, it's even worth the wait. It helps that the line is very cool.

I sort of realized the same thing. The only things my mom and I like to see there are ToT, RnR, and the Great Movie Ride. Star Tours is good too but I can take it or leave it. I hadn't realized how little there was to do. I thought we would end up spending half a day at animal kingdom and maybe 2/3 of a day at MGM and it was the opposite! I'm glad we had park hoppers so we could just leave when we wanted to.

I was sorry to read through and see that several of you aren't to fond of DHS. I really like it. Granted...it isn't very large but I enjoy what is there.

Gas has dropped to $2.29!!!!!!!!!!!! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:
But for some reason I find that almost scary. :confused3

Next time, we'll do a morning at DHS followed by a trip to the pool and a morning at AK followed by shopping. I can easily spend 2 full days at Epcot and 1.5 days at MK. So next year, it'll be like: Epcot, DHS/pool, MK, Epcot, MNSSHP in the evening (sleep in day), AK/shopping. We'll have to move around days to find a week where the kids don't miss as much school next year, too. Perhaps the week I have planned will have the kids out of school for a few days.
