Okay ya'll, I need some help. This is probably the last place I should be asking this because everyone here is such Disney Fanatics. :rotfl: So... you have to put the fanatic part of your personalities aside for this:lmao: . Here goes....Hubby and I are thinking about going to Asheville NC to sight see and visit Biltmore Estates. We would tour the estate during the day and do the Candlelight tour one night. (it's beautiful. I've done this before but hubby hasn't. And he really wants to see this place.) We would stay about 2 blocks from the estate. We would be staying at the Double Tree-Biltmore Hotel. There is also a lovely little village at the foot of Biltmore with all kinds of shops. Now the hard part. We are torn between what to do. Disney or Biltmore. We can't do both. The trips cost about the same. Disney would involve 6 days away from home. Biltmore is only 4. With our business, leaving home for any length of time isn't a good thing. :sad2: So the 4 days is more comfortable for us. And it isn't like we won't be going back to Disney. If the economy doesn't slam us to much harder we have a family trip booked for May. (But that could change if things slow down anymore.) What to do...what to do :confused3 . We really need to get away. Its for the good of our mental health. Even Hubby is torn with this one.

Biltmore decked out for Christmas?

Disney decked out for Christmas?

:confused3 HELP

I'm all for seeing new things and doing shorter trips when finances/economy are an issue. I would go with Biltmore. I think it would be fun bringing your husband who has never seen it. Besides, I feel confident you will be visiting Disney on a few more occasions. ;)

I think we are leaning towards Biltmore. I just keep telling both of us that there is life outside of Disney. :scared1: (I know, but it is true :lmao: ) And like I said above we have a trip booked for May. It's just that Disney really has its hooks in us. Yes folks, we drank the water. :sad2: Now we are addicted. :lmao: It must be those subliminal messages. You know...the ones that are on a never ending loop in your head. MUST GO TO DISNEY...MUST GO TO DISNEY. :rotfl2:

SadieDog...I bet your furbabies were supper excited to see you. :goodvibes

Oh yes, they are so happy we are home. I hope my female's stomach is back to normal soon. Sat I woke up to 4 piles of puke and Sunday morning 3 piles of mushy poop  she could not hold in.

I have you BOTH beat: 18 degrees when I got up just a short time ago.....

And I don't wanna talk about it.

Just making a quick appearance here this morning. I am working today through Wednesday, then my dad comes for a week, so I'm going to be busy.

Hope y'all have a fantastic day! Even if it is Monday....:upsidedow

.

Why is your dad leaving the nice comfort of our "cooler" temperatures for your freezing cold ones? You'd think he'd visit you in August or September when our heat has become unbearable for one minute more. ;)

So I interviewed for my old job today. It was interesting. They had a list of questions they have to ask each candidate. My former co-workers laughed about some of them, because they knew the answers already. One was what do I do outside of work to have fun and relax. :rotfl2: I laughed, said I think you all know the answer to that one. First, is family, second is Disney. While I was answering, one guy put his hands up like Mickey ears and kept mouthing "Minnie". I feel good about the interview, but they still have to interview other people. Because of the Rays being in the World Series (     ) they are going to be too busy to get to the second interview for me until later in November. So they won't hire until after Thanksgiving. This actually works good so I don't have to ask for time off for the cruise. I've decided I really want to go back to work. I loved the job and the people. You don't find that often.

Disney decked out for Christmas?

This is a hard one. If you got more days at the Biltmore for the same price, I'd say hands down Biltmore. I'm always big on getting more for the same price. But because you get more vacation time and it's Disney, I'd lean towards Disney. Though, this is a romantic trip and the Biltmore sounds very romantic. Ok, when I'm torn, I write a list of pros and cons. If you are really torn, I'd say do that. Then you'll see where your heart really lies. Because I have a hard time telling anyone to not take a trip to Disney.

Congrats! :thumbsup2 Disney helped you get your old job back! :rotfl:

Smileybug - I think the Biltmore trip sounds fun. Disney will always be there ;)

Everyone have a great monday!

SadieDog...I hope your furbaby is doing better now.

LegoMom...Your dad is coming into town? That's great!!!! Yay for you!!!!! :goodvibes

Mean Queen...Congrats on the interview. I really hope things work out just the way you want them to.:goodvibes And concerning the list of pros and cons with our trip. We have done that. Things are running about even. So that wasn't any help. There is one thing that is tipping the scales in favor of Disney. We have already purchased our MVMCP tickets. :santa:

Seewhatimesdone...Hey!! What are you up to today?

Hey guys. Well, I'm back (again) from the eye doctor. My left eye felt like it had a hair stuck in it behind my contact. Of course, it's the eye with an astigmatism. I went in and we discovered the problem is allergies. He gave me some eye drops to use at night after I take out the contacts, told me not to use my Mary Kay mascara, and had me change solutions. Of course, five minutes after I left the office, the eye did not bother me anymore. He did not do anything in particular except tell me some things to do to relieve the irritation, which I am doing. Also, I've noticed that my eyes do better if I wear sunglasses outside.

SMILEYBUG, May I suggest Biltmore Estate? I absolutely love Biltmore at Christmas. Of course, since Biltmore is the place of my first ever family vacation, first trip with dh, and honeymoon, it holds a special place in my heart and I'm probably not the most objective person in the world.

Well my vote for Smileybug is Disney World but I guess the Biltmore is ok, too!

I don't remember if I've mentioned it here or not but we are looking into a family trip to DC next spring, with a stop at Gettysburg on the way down. We would camp to keep the lodging costs down (as well as meals) and just about everything in DC is free, so we think we can do it. It's someplace we've been wanting to go, and with home schooling the boys it's just about the ultimate American History field trip! Personally I'm super-excited about Gettysburg. I was a History major in college and 19th-century American History is my favorite. The kids want to do a haunted tour at night! I'm going to do a 2-hour detailed history tour of the area and battlefield on horseback!!

I'd want to do both. The haunted tour and the history tour.

We have something in common. I was a history minor in college. But 1st century history and the middle ages are my favorites. I guess that's why I like dark fictions like Harry Potter and vampire books so much.

Well, I jusr caved. It's supposed to be 41 degrees here tonight and I finally turned on the heat in the house. I sure hope we leave this mess behind for good weather in Florida. DH had to defrost his truck this morning.

Congrats on the interview. I hope you get the job.

Oh I am! They're really piling it on right now though; it's giving me major anxiety :scared: That's okay. I have a nice break coming up this week

You do have an awesome break coming up!! On second thought disregard the above post. You don't want to study to hard. You don't want a mushy brain for Disney. :rotfl: Gotta stay on top of those fast passes you know. :thumbsup2

I'm glad your doctor was able to take care of things with your eyes. Eye irritation can be sooooo....irritating. :rotfl2:

I remember you talking before about Biltmore. So I figured you would jump on board. :goodvibes I have been before at Christmas. (One of my famous girls trips.:) ) We even had REAL snow flurries. :woohoo: Hubby has always wanted to go. We have been talking about it more and more lately. Soooooo.....we are still deciding. :rotfl:

LegoMom...your trip sounds really great. I would love to do it. I love history. I think your boys would really benefit from the trip. Please share your plans as the trip comes together. :goodvibes I went to Barnes and Noble today to get some travel books and a map on North Carolina. I want to cram as much into those few days as we can. After the Biltmore what we have on the agenda is hiking, waterfalls, and driving the Blue Ridge Parkway. :)

I turned the heater on for a little while this morning for the first time. Don't you hate that first time smell? Our temp was 42. Tomorrow night is supposed to be 39. I know we are probably getting laughted at by LegoMom and SadieDog. But these night time temps are a little lower than usual.

I figured Legomom and SadieDog would be laughing at us. You know what, though? I blame it all on dh's uncle. Everytime he drives down from Upstate New York, he brings his nasty weather with him.

I hate that first time smell. The kids keep asking if I burnt dinner.

You know I'd be all on board with Biltmore. I absolutely love it around Christmas. I think the girls and I are going to take an all girls trip during the flower and garden festival this year when the tickets are still free for kids 12 and under (all girls' trip meaning my girls, me, my best friend and the little girl she cares for--she's a nanny).
