Smileybug: I could def see myself at a David Cook concert. That would be fun. NOT at a Carrie Underwood concert though. Not my cup of tea.

I agree. I wonder how long until he tours without the rest of the Idol group? I downloaded his song from iTunes already.

We're heading to WDW again this weekend. I hope the weather isn't too bad. I don't mind rain, just not storms. The rain is actually nice because it scares people away and cools things down.

I'd say the stores are busy b/c of the holiday weekend too. I have been camping when sick and it certainly makes things more difficult and less pleasant. Being in the middle of nowhere without any facilities when sick makes every thing feel like work. Then crawl into a damp tent and sleep on the ground. At least we have a pop-up now.

I gave up tent camping looong ago!

Well, no, that's not entirely true, actually. If we're backpacking (DH and I used to go all the time, "B.C."!) then I'm all about the tent and the wilderness experience.

However, since all we do lately is car-camp, it's the pop-up all the way, baby! I need a bath house with showers, flush toilets, etc.. But even still, the camper just isn't home, y'know?!!

And these temperatures don't help...:headache:

.

Hey Mean Queen - guess what I found at the grocery store!!

A bin full of the big bags of Crispy Mint M&M's!!

.

I'll try to stop by soon!

Hey, for those of you interested/fascinated/shocked by such things, thought I'd let you know that we just had a bear in the backyard!

Did you name him????????????? We always name the stray animals... we have never had a bear here...but the red fox is named ....SLY of course.

A friend of mine had the bypass done. It was hard going out to eat with her because she was so limited in her choices. A few years later, she gained back a lot of the weight and had the lapband done since it could be adjusted. There was a problem with her bypass, so she had the option to get it fixed or have the lapband.

I was over at their house last night and they were getting ready to eat when I was leaving. They had picked up chinese food and had tons of it for the two of them. My head kept thinking if they were planning this major life changing event then I would have hoped to have seen some veggies at least. I am not judging them, just worried that they do not realize that this is a forever decision...not like just quitting a diet. Serious stuff that can kill you even. It scares me.

Doesn't it take about a year for their first CD to come out? You'll be seeing him do things before then I'm sure. But an honest to goodness touring concert. I don't know. I would think Idol does some sort of testing to see what kind of public appeal they really have. (Don't want to sink to much money into them don't ya know.) (We all know what DC's appeal is! Yummmmmy!!!!) I really think that is what happened to Rubin and Taylor Hicks. They weren't really sellable.

A large doe ran out in front of my car one night last week. I was going slow and so stopped in plenty of time. It was a back road, so no one else was around. She just stood in front of my car and we watched each other for a while. She was just so beautiful and peaceful. Then something else spooked her and she ran off into the woods.

Fee better!!!

And if you checked the Animal Speaks book it would tell you what that animal was telling you about your life right now... like a totem.

I really hope all of this doesn't affect your trip. :goodvibes

Hopefully I'll meet some DISers! :thumbsup2

I loved Taylor. I found him so much fun. Too bad he is not doing so well. They gave him such a terrible song. It was horrible. What was it? Do I Make You Proud or something like that. I can't stand Fantasia and I'm not into Jordin either.

Tell me more about this book please.

Animal Speak by Ted Andrews is a book that teaches Animal Totems and what those particular animals symbolize in our world. It is a common thing with Native American Indians and back in the day they were even named from their animal totems i.e. Silverwolf, BlackBear, LoneWolf etc.

Let's start with the bear, since one was seen. Bear is a powerful symbol and image in both myth and lore. There are constellations named after bears and many stories of men turning into bears or bears into man. The bear can teach you to go within to find the resources you need for survival. Medicating and working with bear will help you go within your souls den, your inner sanctum to find your answers. So in short it is the awakening of the power of the unconscious. The fact that the bear loves honey, it is a reminder to go within but to bring forward only those things that will help you to taste the honey of life.

Some take it a bit farther, as at one point in time, it was magical and a part of a different type of life. But many will call it Animal magic or bear magic or medicine as it heals ones self. It is the magic that the bear brings to your life...how you can see the path you should be working on etc.

Most people have more than one totem animal..a totem pole if you will. But this book helps you to recognize natures signs in life...in flowers, in trees, in birds... many indians feel the animals mirror them in meaning of where they are in their life path.

I know...I babble.

Oooh. Yes please. Tell me more about this book of which you speak!

I hope not to offend anyone and promise not to hijack the thread but...

Deer make me think of God. I think it's because they're usually so passive and gentle and peaceful. In the winter it's always dark when I'm on the road in the morning and sometimes they're there, just off the side of the road and my headlights catch them. Always puts a smile on my face.

This book sounds great. I've got to look into it. Are you of Native American heritage? I am. I have been researching my roots for years. It has helped to understand things that I feel sometimes. We are Cherokee.

Thank you so much! This book sounds like something right up my alley. BF would like it too, since he's part Native American. I'm going to go search for it now. :thumbsup2

Nature in itself makes me think of God. Watching the wind blow through the trees is like being in church.

I am Cherokee as well. My mother and I lived on a reservation for 3 years of my life. It was a safe place from my father who was very abusive, the indians did not let him on their land. I was very young and my memories are of course distorted by the age and what is noticed and remembered from those years. I also had a part Indian and part Christian service for my mothers ashes.

We go to drum circles and my oldest son is a fire tender for sweats. I want them to know of my heritage and allow them to see and appreciate everyone for who they are.
