Hello everybody.....
This trip was kind of an unexpected surprise. My DH told me months ago that he would be needing to go to a conference that would be at the Opryland Hotel sometime in August. I was excited to get to stay there since it's such a beautiful hotel, but living close to Nashville, we have been there many times. Well, of course, this was before the big flood in Nashville, so after that sad event, DH came home & said guess where they moved the conference to?
I knew from the glint in his eye, that it was going to be good. The conference was being moved to Coronado Springs at Walt Disney World & he wondered if I wanted to go with him? HAHAHAHAHAHA very funny dear.

Of course, I want to go.
The only challenging thing about this trip, has been me having to let go of the planning & let him do it for the most part since it is a work trip for him & there are other people involved. He made the room reservations & FINALLY a week or so ago did the flight reservations. It has been KILLING ME & I have tried not to drive him to crazy with questions. And I am still firmly reminding him to make the rental car reservations since we are 2 weeks out & he doesn't want to do Magical Express in case people want to leave property.
Also, there are 4 total work people going including DH...3 bringing spouses, so there will be a total of 7 of us. Now I had all these great ideas for what we could all do together (fireworks cruises, etc that he has kept shooting down) & have planned 1 thing, but who knows what it will be like to travel with these people.
Now normally DH is all about whatever I plan & is appreciative of all my crazy OCDiser (to borrow a word I saw on another TR) planning. BUT throw in all these work people who may or may not love Disney & he is a little more leary of letting me loose to plan a bunch of events. So, I have tried to rein in my excitement, but it hasn't stopped me for planning some things for myself to do while they are in meetings & for us to do with them & by ourselves.
For those of you that don't know US.............here we are on one of our best trips EVER!!!!! Adventures by Disney Backstage Magic trip Dec 2008
My name is Melanie & I am a Disneyholic from wayyyyyyyyyyyy back. I love traveling to Disney destinations & planning Disney trips. Walt Disney is my hero & I read everything I can get my hands on about Walt, the Disney company, the themeparks, the art (you get the idea right?).
My DH's name is Eric & he enjoys Disney almost as much as I do. He is the most wonderful husband ever & he has been making my dreams come true for almost 10 years.
Our 7 year wedding anniversary is August 9th, so we will be doing some belated celebrating of that special day at WDW.
So, we leave 2 weeks from tomorrow on Wed August 18th. We will be flying Allegiant Air to MCO-hoping for a much better experience with them this time as the last time we flew with them in May 2009 our flight was delayed about 3 or 4 hours. Our flight gets in aroung 7pm (I was pushing for the earlier flight on Air Trans, but those darn work people decided on the later one
). So sadly, we won't have time for much fun that night. We will pick up a couple of rental cars & head towards WDW. My guess is we will eat somewhere along the way.........maybe Chevy's or someplace else at Crossroads Plaza before heading to check-in at the resort.
We will be staying at Coronado Springs-a first time at this resort for us. I am excited to see a new place.
I am excited to see the pool in person.
I will be excited just to be at Disney.
Another thing, I am really excited about is getting to see the Main Street Electrical Parade which I haven't seen in years (we just missed it at DL in Dec 2008 by days). When, I first heard about it coming to MK this summer for Summer Night-tastic, I was trying to figure out a way to get down & see it but coudln't get DH to agree. Well, then the conference presented itself, BUT the parade & night-tastic was ending August 14th & we weren't arriving until the 18th. Crud!!!!!!!!!! But last week, it was announced that they were holding the parade over which is something I have been WISHING for really hard.

So, now I am over the moon excited....it was my first Disney parade ever & I just know I am going to choke up & get teary when I hear that music.
Up next...........What plans did I actually get to make??????
