On almost every board there is a request for the Tag Fairy. People are chanting "I believe," others are clapping, one is saying her son thinks she is a bad mother because she doesn't have a tag, some are pleading or begging to be tagged. Then there are the posts of announcements to say they have been tagged followed by congratulations.
Someone help me understand why being tagged is so sought after. I almost posted to the debate board but I really don't mean this as a debate. I just would truly like to know why it is important on this board. I know that the tone of my voice can't be deteremined here so please know that I am not being sarcastic or trying to belittle someone who really, really wants to be tagged.
Think of my question about tags like a question on the resort board that asks: "I've never stayed at Port Orleans. It looks ok when I drive by but everyone here seems to love it. What's so great about it? Why did you want to stay there? Is it better to stay there when you don't have expectations from reading the reviews? Convince me to stay there."
I've never been tagged and in fact, I never really read the tags that others have when I am reading the boards unless someone points it out. I apologize that I don't read the tags so maybe I am in the minority. Is it like having a new dress, purse, and shoes that you are excited about and no one noticed?
So, here is my rephrasing using the example of a question on the resort board:
"I've never been tagged. It looks ok when I lurk on the board but everyone seems to love it. What's so great about tags? Why did you want to be tagged? Is it better to be tagged as a surprise without having to request it? Convince me why I should even care if I get tagged."
