I just was lucky enough to get a deal on the tracfone for our upcoming trip. I have tried the various radios and always seem to loose communication and can't locate the kids throughout the parks. I don't want the problems with a contract until I find one that is very good. There is so much competition now and the prices are comng down, so this is for me now.

This is just great. Go to tracfone.com, promotions, phone store, zip code and pick the 24.99 deal. It is wonderful. I ordered this Sunday and got it on Tuesday for a total of 31.00 with fedex shipping and tax included. It included a very nice quality Nokia phone, charger and battery. I also got a 60 minute card which sells for the same amount and an extra 10 minutes for activation. I also got a 60 minute bonus from a referral. Plus, there is a coupon book for $200 off future minutes. You have to renew minutes every 90 days with this offer.

I hope you try this. If you want an extra 60 minutes free, please email me and I would be glad to send you the referral that I got. This offer is scheduled to expire today, but may be extended.

Overall, great phone, great customer service, activation was a snap and no commitment.

Hi !
We bought two Tracfones and alternate the activation time by two to three weeks so we can take advantage of the monthly promos. The minutes left in the handset at the end of the calender days term never disappear for each handset.
If the calender term runs out dont worry. Tracefone will try to keep you active with reminder calls to your house not the handset.
Roaming is tricky depending on the phone, ours are old according to todays standards, so we have to activate roaming before leaving your local area so you can receive calls like in Orlando.
Yours may be different, the Traacfone people tried to update our handsets but we felt that telemarketer calls might use up our minutes, so we use them for emergency and soccer/ basketball events mostly.
Everytime you DON'T add minutes before the calender runs out you have to change the telephone number on the hand set, again this is with the old models and can be a pain, but no two year contract and more and more features are being added and newer phones.
We are thinking of upgrading to a newer handset but not until Xmass shoppping season, that is when we bought ours at Staples with buyer protection for plan for one year covering everything in the accessory kit and battery for $5 each phone.
Suggest you spend some time reading the Tracfone and handset manuals which are loaded with hidden features like call logs etc.

ENJOY!

Thank you for your post. They have extended the offer thru October, I ordered mine this morning. :p

I read the hand books and apparently things are different now. The phone is a Nokia with many, many fatures. As for adding time, we just did and had no problems whatsoever.

Maybe things have changed for the better. I have read many other posts and there are a lotof satisified customers. I guess as with other products, some things you get a good one and sometimes a bad one. I think that this is great and so far so good.

Thanks for the imput, I appreciate it.

I just thought of something (I've had a Tracfone for awile!). Calls you make outside your home area (which is tiny!) are roaming and take 2 credits per minute. I wonder if you can change your home zone/zipcode temporarily to an Orlando zip code so calls down there are considered local??? Anyone have an idea???

Edit: nevermind. Saw on the Tracfone website that you would have to change your number, and I don't want to do that.

Patti-I just ordered the promo deal for $24.99. Thanks so much for posting as I was about to go buy a 30 minute card so I could try out the Tracfone my neice gave me to try. Since hers was an older model phone, I'm so glad to be able to this Tracfone stuff with a newer phone and for only a few dollars more.

I sent you an email regarding the bonus 60 minutes referral.

Good morning Snoozan:

Let me know when you need the referral. I also want to send you a couple of other codes that I have received. The give you additional time added to the sixty. I was unable to use them so if you and/or anyone else wants to give it a try let me know. I don't like giving back unused minutes. Good luck.

If you don't mind getting a reconditioned phone, you might also be interested in their Nokia phone with 1 year of service and 150 minutes of calling time for $94.99. That's the same price as the one year service and 150 minute card - so again the phone ends up being free. http://www.tracfone-orders.com/direct/tr/itemdetl.jsp?prod=954&tech=TO

We ordered our Tracfone a few weeks ago, and they didn't have that promotion then. My DH wasn't interested in getting a reconditioned phone, so I'm not sure we would've taken advantage of that offer. We bought the new Nokia phone with a year of service, and then bought a 150-minute card separately.

We were unable to activate the phone or the minutes online and had to call - kind of a pain. Fortunately - 180 minutes (got 30 bonus minutes with the coupon book) should last awhile (the phone is for emergencies for our teenage daughter), so I won't have to deal with customer service again for about 6 months.

One more thing: we used our Discover Card $20 cashback bonus for a $40 Staples gift certificate, and then used that to buy the 150-minute phone card for $39.99.

I see that the minutes can accumulate but do the months accumulate also? For example month wise you need to add a card by Nov. 30....can you add a card now and it will change to Jan 30 or should you wait until as close to Nov 30 as possible to get a full 60 days added to your phone?

*Editing* OK found on the site that it states the 60 days are added from the date you activate the card.

Now another idea: I compared the prices of the cards on the Trac Phone site and with WalMart.com and found WalMart even with shipping ($.96) is just a few cents cheaper at the moment with 2 cards having "RollBack Savings". On Amazon.com it qualifies for "Super Saver Shipping" which is free. KMart was waaaaaaay overpriced their 150 minute card was $10 higher. So now I'm wondering if we order from an online site such as WalMart.com we could go through our reward program sites to earn points. Anyone know?

I went through Creation Rewards and bought a 60 minute card then forwarded my confirmation email from WalMart to CR and received 115 points! :earseek:
