I've heard you get 13 months before expiration, and I've heard that's not true.

We purchased Tables on August 29, 2015.

When do we need to renew?
We cannot lapse, as we are locals and eat at Disney at least once per week.

Thanks!!

MG

Look on the back of the card for expiration date. There is no renewal. Each card is good until the end of the month following the month purchased. If you bought in August it should expire the last day in September. You then purchase a new card at the current rate.

Good deal.. Thanx. Wifey has the card so I'll ask her tomorrow when she's awake.

Just curious... Why does Disney give 13+ months on this one??

No "lapse" in membership. When yours expires, just buy a new one. No cost benefit to "renewing".

We just got one. You have the extra month, but if you renew, it will be dated back to the expiration date. I.e. If you expire Aug 1 , and buy Aug 32' it will be dated Aug 1 for the renewal. Presumably you could get the extra month. Let lapse, and then repurchase.

We let our last card lapse so we will be buying a new card on October 1st. Will we get 13 months with that, so that it will expire Nov 30, 2017?

Thanks.

But there is no renewal. If someone did that, they did it wrong and you can probably get it fixed.

Hi Sue! You got it right. Our card expired in February 2015. We got a new card in June 2015 that just expired on 31 July 2016. Unfortunately that means I gotta buy a new one in 11 days. Fortunately that means I got back to disney in 11 days :-)

Thanks, Kari. It is tough to keep going back to Disney to use the TiW card. ;)

I hope you have a great trip.

Perhaps a little explanation... The KEY element is understanding the TIW program.

We were in a similar situation.... time to renew for our NOVEMBER trip. KNOWING we would be taking a NOVEMBER trip in 2017...
So I emailed TIW. My question: OPTIMIZING my TIW card renewal.

The TIW folks were MORE than willing to help - based on TIW sales rules. And if I'm not quite clear? PLEASE contact them with YOUR PARTICULAR situation... they WILL help.

Now, in OUR PARTICULAR case? I got great advice. "Order a new TIW in the first week of OCTOBER, 2016". These people took the time to make sure our NEW TIW would be valid through the END of November 2017. THREE trips, for us.

TIW has an interesting criteria for Start/End date. NEVER start a TIW card close to the END of a month - ALWAYS start one in the first WEEK of the NEXT month. TIW runs on a "full month" schedule. If you START one on June 28? BONG - screwed. THAT card runs June through END OF JUNE, 12 months out.

Start one on July 2, same year? YOU WIN. THAT card runs July through the END of July, 12 months out.

The above is a transcription, based on OUR personal experience. In EVERY case? ASK TIW..... they will TELL you what the best deal is, for YOU. These are wonderful people.... they will NOT screw you :). They WILL tell you the truth, and work WITH you to help YOUR situation.

I bought the card in January at the MK. It expires exactly one year from the date that I bought it. No extra time on it at all.

We are going on the 21st of this month. Would we benefit by getting it now? I was just going to when we got there, and thought it would be good through Sept 30th 2017....?

If you wind up like me, you won't have it through Sept 2017. Just one year exactly from when you bought it.

It's never worked like that (at least intentionally). Any we've had, no matter what day of the month it was bought in, expired at the end of the next month, one year later. Card bought May 28, expired June 30, the next year
Card bought July 28 this year expires end of Aug next year.

Someone screwed up. I'd get it fixed

I will be purchasing my TiW card at the International Gateway so I hope their guest relations window gives me the full thirteen months. We are hoping to return next October and don't want the card to expire one year from our purchase date of 10/1/16.

Check it before you walk away. If it's different ask them about it. Tell them you understood it was supposed to expire at the end of the next month a year later.
From the large number of people who get it right and the small number who have it wrong I'm thinking your odds of one doing it right are good.

Our latest one was bought at HS

The rules of the card is that it is good for one year. The extra time was supposed to cover the time the card was in transit when using the mail and they never changed it. I don't think there is anything wrong with getting it for one year exactly. And it will work for us anyway.
