Hi everyone,
Just finishing packing for our looong drive down-leaving this afternoon.... and I thought of a last minute question.

We have a TIW card, and my parents will be coming along with us most meals. I know my dad & dh will do the "check dance" when the bill arrives.

Will my dad be able to 'treat' using his credit card, even though the TIW card is in our name??? Will there still be a discount if he does?? Or will he have to use cash?

These are the crazy, last minute things I think of..........

Anyone can pay, as long as the cardholder is present and all meals are on one bill.

TDC Nala, my understanding is that I have to pay since I'm the TIW cardholder. I've done the cc dance many times...I simply keep a record of the all meals I pay for, and then at the end of the trip people who want to pay for one meal, or their portion thereof, simply write me a check.

Our experience with TiW has been consistent with TDC Nala's response. At times others in our party have picked up the check and there has not been a problem, even though the TiW is in my name.

TDC Nala, my understanding is that I have to pay since I'm the TIW cardholder.

I have, many times, been in parties of varying makeups where one TIW was used and it has never been said that the cardholder had to be the one to issue payment, just that the cardholder had to be present. Often, we will do something like use my TIW card and a friend who is trying to gain rewards points on their credit card will make the payment to the restaurant and accept cash from the rest of the party. Have also had the payment, while presented on one check, split between two credit cards belonging to different persons.

I have been using the TIW card since it was offered to annual passholders and have never once faced an issue where the cardholder had to be the one to pay for the meal - just that everything had to be on one check to have the discount applied.

I would like to know if the previous poster had any experience in which they were told at a restaurant that only the cardholder could pay for the discounted meals.

I actually haven't tried to have someone else pay! I guess I read the rules wrong. This is fabulous news and will make it much easier to let us share expenses. Thanks, TDC Nala, for clarifying for me. The DIS is the best!

This is no problem. Just give the server the TIW card. Then he/she brings the discounted bill to the table and returns the TIW card. After that anyone at the table can pay for it.

A few years back while at the OKW pool, I grabbed my key & TIW card & headed to Gurgling Suitcase. No discount for me since the two were in two different names. Not a huge deal since I just had to walk back & grab DH's key but still....

Did the rules change? Or maybe it was cuz DH wasn't standing next to me?

Was the TIW card in your husband's name? That would be the problem since he was not the one presenting the TIW card...

My experience is that the person whose name is on the card has to be present, but doesn't have to be the one that pays.

I have not always had to be the one to pay but I have at times had to present a picture id to prove who I was in order to get the discount. As long as my meal was on the bill anyone could pay for it and get the discount.
