We want to apply for the discount card. Does the expiration start from when you apply or do they give a couple weeks allowance for delivery time. We're hoping to use it next summer also. Our trip this year starts Aug. 8.

Buy it when you arrive at WDW. Any guest services at the parks or DTD can sell you the TIW card. Thats what we are going to do for our 9/3/09 trip.

We used to call on the way down and pick up our letter at Epcot. It would then expire one year and 6-8 weeks (depending when in the month we purchased) later. Now we just purchase when we get there and are given the card immediately and it expires on the 31st of the next month one year later (giving 13 months or so of use).

We bought ours onsite at the beginning of August last year and it is valid through the end of August this year. The process is definitely easier now than it used to be!

It's really easy to get one now. BEWARE, When I was asked if I was on a dining plan I would tell them I had the TIW. I felt that the service we got was less than other tables on 3 different occasions. Once it was so bad I actually said something to the manager. When you use the FIW card the tip is guaranteed so now I don't tell them I have the card until it's time to pay the bill.
