This was our (myself, DH and DS8) first time using the DDP and my first attempt at reviewing. So hope this works!!!! If not, oh well, I tried. I love reading everyones reviews as they are so helpful.

Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater We ate here Sunday 2/11 and our ADR was for 5:20 p.m. Once we checked in we were seated immediately. As we were a party of 3 they sat us in a car with another couple. It was apparent they were on their honeymoon as they had their wedding mickey ears. It took quite a while to place our order on top of receiving it. The entertainment/movie was fine but our DS8 was starving and he just wanted his food. Items Ordered:
DH - house salad, minus tomatoes,
ribs
ice cream
coke
DW - onion rings
ribs
cheesecake and ice tea
DS8 - fruit salad
hamburger
french fries
coke
DH's salad wasn't the best. Our waitress mentioned that she'd see if she could find something else to put on it since he didn't want tomatoes. It came with half an onion. If I was paying out of pocket for this salad I would be really disappointed. It was watery lettuce, onion, and ranch dressing. In my opinion not $4.99 worth. Oh well. He enjoyed the ribs that came later. My onion rings were really good and I shared with the DH since he had the bad salad. I didn't realize how dark it was in there until I started eating my ribs. I couldn't see them!!!! DH enjoyed his ribs and I thought they were ok. I enjoy having more sauce on them. They were dryer than I thought they would be. Oh well. I ate half of them. I was saving room for dessert. DS8 was okay with his hamburger. He was wanting chicken strips but it wasn't on the menu. Oh well. He ate as he was hungry. As for the desserts, DH just ate DS's ice cream, as he was stuffed from the ribs. I saved room for the cheesecake. It was okay. I was expecting something different perhaps a slice. As I'm not a carmel fan I had them leave the sauce off. It was a round size piece of cheesecake and it also had a crust on the whole thing. Different I'd say. It wasn't that bad just not what I was expecting or perhaps wanting. Our bill came to $88.79. I'm liking not having to pay already. After the whole week this turned out to be DS8's favorite place to eat "except for how long it took" he says. :)

Canada, Le Cellier We ate here Monday, 2/12, and our ADR was at 5:20. We checked in and were seated immediately. We ate here on our last trip in 2001 so we knew what to expect. The good part was again, we weren't paying out of pocket for it!!!
DH - Maple BBQ Filet, medium well
Shrimp Cocktail
Blueberry Cobbler/Huckelberry Dessert
Milk
DW - Maple BBQ Filet, with the sauce on the side, medium rare
Cheese Soup
Canadian Club Cake
Ice Tea
DS - Kids Hot Dog
Kids Apples
Ice Cream Sundae
Milk
I thorougly enjoyed the cheese soup with the pretzel bread. It was soooo good. DH loved his shrimp cocktail and I enjoyed the few bites I got of it also. DS thought his apples were to sour. Go figure. He can sometimes be a pain. The filets were very good. I don't think I can say excellent but DH and I both ate all of them. I should have ordered mine medium but I didn't. DH enjoyed his mashed potatoes and I didn't eat mine. I'm not a fan of mashed potatoes. DS didn't like his grilled hot dog. It was burnt he said. He wanted chicken and they didn't have it. Are you seeing a pattern???? The Canadian Club Cake was AWSOME!!!!!!!! I'd love a piece right now. It was so rich but I ate it all. DH like his dessert also. He was somewhat afraid of the huckleberry but it was good he said. He didn't eat all of it. At home he never touches dessert after dinner. DS ate a little of his ice cream but all of his milk. He became a milk boy this week. Every meal he ordered milk and drank all of it. He didn't touch pop all week. At least he was getting his dairy allotment for the week. Our bill came to $122.32. Did I say how much I love not having to pay for these meals. DH couldn't believe this. He now loves the dining plan too.

O'hana We ate here Tuesday 2/12 and our ADR was at 5:30. We checked in and were seated within 5 minutes. Let me tell you having an early ADR seemed to pay off. This place was a zoo when we left at 6:45 or so. This was our first visit to O'hana's. I was hoping that our DS8 would enjoy the children's entertainment. DS8 wanted chicken and guess what he got it for this meal. Our waitress, Stephanie, didn't seem too thrilled about his not eating from the standard table food. She told him it would take a long time to get it. I'm not sure what the cost of the children's dinner is compared to the chicken he got, but he wanted chicken. DH wanted to order a drink this night so he asked Stephanie what she'd recommend. He got the Island Sunset, infact, two of them. They were very very good. I wasn't sure how our night was going to go with Stephanie but she ended up being a great waitress. She was fighting a sinus infection she said and didn't feel real well. Back to the food, what I can remember, the chips were good, especially the peanut sauce, now the other two I didn't care for. I loved the chicken wings and shrimp. Although I hate peeling the shrimp I still ate plenty. The salad was good there was just so much food to eat. The potatoes were good I thought and my DH loved them. He ate plenty of them. The veggies were good, really I don't remember eating too much of that. As for the meats, we got the sausage, turkey, is it. They were good. We never did get any steak until Stephanie came around toward the end. I mentioned to her that we didn't get any of that and we just wanted to try a small amount. She wasn't too happy that we didn't get it. She brought us some. I dipped it in the peanut sauce. It was better I thought that way. We had ate sooooo much food at this meal that it was hard to enjoy the dessert. It was good. I'm not a bananas fan but my DH thought it was very good. DS8 enjoyed his chicken this time. As for the entertainment he wouldn't do the coconut races but after that he joined in and really enjoyed himself. It seems as if we ate and ate and I think we did. The cost this night was $65.51 plus $17.43 out of pocket for the two drinks. I'd love to come here again. We sat at a small table and it seemed hard to pass the food, etc. but it sure was good.

Crystal Palace We ate here Wednesday 2/14 and our ADR was for
5:00. This was one place my husband wanted to eat. He is Tigger's biggest fan. We have ate here before in 1999 so we knew what the food was like. We maybe waited 10 minutes to be checked in and seated this time. It actually took more time to check in than it did to be seated. At this meal Kathy was our waitress. She was a wonderful wonderful waitress. Very attentive. She had my glass of ice tea filled immediately and sometimes just brought me two glasses at a time. Tigger had already gone by our table when we were seated so we had time to eat before we saw any of the other characters. My DH and myself enjoyed the shrimp here like last night. Still had to peel them again. Bummer!!!! You could eat so much more if you didn't have to peel them. Probably the reason for peeling. haha I found a very good salad dressing, don't know the name, nothing normal, which I loved, loved. I had three plates of salad I loved it that much. The prime rib was very good also. I tried a few new things this time but I can't remember what they were called but I enjoyed them all. I really enjoyed all of the food this time better than the last time in 1999. Maybe I'm just older  than I was last time. I won't tell you how much. I ate dessert but I don't remember what. Sorry. I just loved the salad dressing. Are you thinking I'm strange. I am. DH's only comment on the prime rib was that the first time he took it rarer than he would like. On the second trip up he saw them cooking a piece for someone to get it a little doner. He did that the second time around and really enjoyed the prime rib then. Lesson learned! As for the characters, well we got everyones but Tigger. Pooh, Piglet, and Eyore (sp wrong?) all came around in due time. As Tigger was at the end of our row of tables when we started eating he was still on the other side of the room when we had waited over an hour. As we wanted to see Spectro Magic and get a decent spot we decided we couldn't wait any longer as it was almost 6:15 p.m. So we left, my husband soooo sad. I'm hoping he doesn't hold a grudge the rest of the week. Time will tell. This meal cost
$85.88.

50's Prime Time Cafe We ate here on Thursday 2/15 and our ADR was at 3:35. I had initially made an ADR for Whispering Canyon but since we were wanting to see the 3:00 parade at MGM and Fantasmic we changed our ADR and this was all I could get. We had also eaten here on other trips so we knew what to expect except our DS8 didn't. We had the BEST BEST waitress, MELISSA. She was soooooo VERY GOOD. She played her role very very well. She took to calling DS8 Skippy. It was a hoot. He hated it, he kept telling her my name is Jeff, and she kept calling him Skippy. We had so much fun, fun, fun.
DH - Chicken Noodle Soup
Pot Roast
Coffee
Vanilla Shake
DW - Fried Herb Cheese
Fried Chicken & french fries
Smores
Ice Tea
DS8 - Kids Chicken Noodle Soup
Kids Chicken Nuggets
Kids Ice Cream
DH like the soup but commented it had a lot of onions. DS8 thought it tasted wierd probably because of all the onions. I wasn't expecting the fried herb cheese to be what I got. I was expecting something more like mozz. sticks and that wasn't it at all. I should have read the menu closer and maybe I would have figured it out. I didn't care for it at all. I should have gotten the onion rings but since I had them once already in the week I thought I'd try something else. Oh well. Next time it'll be onion rings. DH loved the pot roast there was just so much of it as with my fried chicken. It was very good. I couldn't eat it all that's for sure. I had asked for ff instead of mashed potatoes. Of course Melissa made a huge deal about that but I enjoyed it. The ff were good. As for the greens, I told her no greens also but I got them anyway. I tried a small bite. Icky!!!!! On to the desserts, the smores were very good and we got the vanilla shake to go. It was huge and thick and very very good. Again, we were sooooo full. Our meal cost $80.20. We tipped Melissa extra. She was just so so much fun. It made our day just that more magical. We've been calling our DS Skippy ever since.

All is all we loved the DDP. It does take some time getting use to doing the ddp as for the counter services and snacks. I think we could do a better job next time. I'm hoping next February!!!!! Our counter services were Pecos Bills, Pop food court, Electric Umbrella, Toy Story Pizza Planet and Cosmic Ray's. All were good I thought. I really enjoyed the Chicken Parm. at Pop. We ate that two times. Most meals were chicken nuggets (DS8), double hamburger meals, chicken strips and pizza. The counter services on the ddp plan were $178.75 and $35 for snacks. Snacks were our downfall on getting the most for your money. Oh well. Free is free I guess. Our table service meals totaled $456.84 totaling $670.59 for everything. We saved approx. $225.00 doing the ddp I believe. It's a lot of food but I like that you pay for it with your package. Our vacation was paid for pretty much before we got there. We only spent an additional $200.00 with souveniers, breakfast food, etc. during our 6 day vacation. You can't beat that. If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask. Hope this dining review isn't too long. haha I know it is. Sorry :)

Enjoyed reading your reviews ~ Thanx for sharing.

Thanks for sharing!

I am glad you had a good experience at the Crystal Palace. We are trying it for the first time this August!

Thanks for sharing! We love to do the Sci Fi for the calming effect of the night sky during a hectic day at MGM...but it ALWAYS takes a long time for service and best things are the ribs, burgers and onion rings...std fare. Other things sound nice on the menu, but they just don't deliver. Still, we make it an annual pilgrimage.:goodvibes

Hey! I'm cousin Stephanie! Thanks for being understanding of my being under the weather. Oh! And I don't say that the chicken will be a long time because I want to discourage people from getting it.... It doesn't matter to me one way or another.... it's more of a warning because people get upset that it doesn't come out as instantly as everything else. :goodvibes

That's cool that Cousin Stephanie is on these boards too. WOW. You were a great waitress even if you were under the weather. I'm sorry if I offended you about the kids chicken. It was no problem he'd have to wait. I think sometimes we read too much of these boards and our brains work too hard at trying to figure out everything while on vacation. Oh well, we had a wonderful vacation and you did your part at making our meal at O'hana's so enjoyable. I wish I was still on vacation instead of here in rainy Indiana. Can't wait until our next WDW vacation even if its not planned yet!
Lynn

He was wanting chicken strips but it wasn't on the menu. Lynn

One menu I found somewhere had chicken on it. I am glad you posted that. My three year old twins are going through a very picky stage and will only eat chicken. I have ADR for Sci-Fi, so I guess if they don't have chicken they could just eat french fries.

Can I ask what you meant that you could have done a better job with the counter service meals..that it took some getting used to ..in what regard? I am thinking of adding the dining plan to our room only reservation..but not sure if it's for us or not? Sometimes it just seems so complicated. However we almost always eat at least one sit down meal a day. We are paying for 5 adults. (the kids are 15 and 19). I keep going back and forth with it. Also considering getting the DDE card. Not sure which way to go with it or which would be better for us.

Great reviews, Lynn! You went to some of our favorites. We do usually hit the Sci Fine for lunch (burgers, onion rings, and shakes -- yum!!) and Crystal Palace for breakfast, but we may just have to give dinner at Crystal Palace a try. I'd like to see if I can figure out which salad dressing you fell in love with. I eat a lot of salad, and I'm always looking for something new.

Pat

202 days and counting . . . again!

inky dinky doo, I wish I could remember exactly what dressing it was. I know it wasn't red/french or ranch but I'm thinking it was on the line of looking like italian or something in that color but it had a much better taste then italian. It was also a little thicker. I'm also thinking it was on the right side of the dressings too but that could change on a daily basis. It's been too long and my brain doesn't work that good.

auntie, what I meant about thinking we could have used our counter service meals better is that we should have shared the double hamburger meals we got during the week. Asking to buy an extra bun oop. There were many days we could have shared more of our meals using the extra counter service for breakfast in the morning. I hate to see wasted food. At Pizza Planet at MGM we got three pizza meals due to the fact that they didn't have a kids meal which I was happy about anyway but we wasted a whole meal as we didn't need three pizzas, three salads and three large pops. I didn't say anything though about three desserts, i.e. cookies. They all got ate! :)

I wouldn't go back w/o the dining plan though. I do think it will be easier to use the next time though. The only problem I have with it is some of the kids meals at the counter service locations. It has been talked about before. It's crazy as far as I'm concerned that you can't get a kids hamburger at Pecos Bill for example. And the jello for the kids dessert. ICK! None of us wanted it. That's minor in comparison to the benefits I believe. We had the opportunity to go on vacation, eat until we couldn't eat again, and with everything being paid for prior to arrival we only spent $175.00. You can't go wrong there.

Well, thanks for the tips. I am still thinking it over. Since we would be adding on it's at about $40.00 per person a day..times 5 people..that's $200.00 X the 7 days we will be there and we are spending an additional $1400.00. On one hand that sounds like a lot..but if I were spending it out of pocket I'd probably figure on that amount. We usually do eat at least one sit down meal a day..but a few of them would be breakfasts..say at the Cape May. So..I go back and forth with whether to add it or not. I don't think I spend more than that on food..but I also don't want the pressure of having to make sure I get my money's worth of all the credits. I don't know..I even confused myself now. That's why I was also considering the DDE card..where we would save 20% off meals. Since I don't have little ones the kids meal selections isn't an issue. Thanks for your input;) ..gives me something to think about.
