Has anyone ever made one of these? Or had one made? Were you impressed or disappointed with the end result?

I would love to know this as well. I have always thought about it and it would be a good way to declutter some old tshirts and keep a memory. Anyone who has input I would greatly appreciate it as well!

I have had two made - first one was with all of my race shirts and I used Project Repat - they were great. Second one I worked with a seamstress on Etsy, who was phenomenal. Unfortunately she’s no longer in business but there are others who are highly rated.

I made one for my BIL's partner after BIL passed. Hardest thing was that all the T-shirts had different sized images widths and heights. I finally sorted them into 3 widths and laid them out on the floor to balance sizes and colors. Most were darker shades - grey, brown, burgundy, loden so I edged each piece and outer border in black.

Important thing I learned from friend who had done one - iron Pellon (or similar) stabilizer on the back before you cut. Keeps it from stretching out.

I used a roller cutter and long ruler to make sure cuts were straight and square. Will try to find picture to attach.

if anyone has an online recommendation of a person or company to use please pass it on-for years i've wanted to have one made of my collection of t-shirts from decades of college and community theatre productions.

I've made 2 one for each daughter using their college/sorority t-shirts. I cut the shirts into even sizes, then I sewed them into strips. Oh I also backed the t-shirt with interfacing to firm up the fabric and makes it easier to sew. My girls love the quilts. I also used the pockets on the quilt for a bit of fun.

I have sewn a patchwork quilt, but never a T-shirt quilt. Whoever you talk to, to make the quilt, make sure you get photos of previous quits they've actually made. As @Travel60 showed, the logos can be different sizes and shapes, colors, etc. You may want some logos prominently displayed in the middle and others along the edges will be fine.

It may sound easy to make to a sewer, not experienced in making one, and then they find that they've bit off more than they could chew and back out after they've cut all the logos out and made it harder work or next to impossible for the next person to to piece them together. For instance, in Travel60's quilt, they left extra t-shirt material on the Bread & Roses Bakery logo at the bottom. Someone else who just thinks they can cut them all out and figure it out afterward may give you a quilt of your best loved t-shirts looking very amateurishly done.

My mom made one for each of the grandkids, starting with mine (who funny enough is the youngest, but I approached her first). She actually sewed the selection of baby, toddler and young t-shirts onto the first quilt that my daughter had for her bed. We incorporated a few quotes of memorable things that she said and my mom embroidered those onto squares of fabric to put on the quilt. At the end of the day, it came out great and is a memorable keepsake.

My DGD who was 14 at the time made me one from some of our travel t shirts
We entered it at the state fair and she won a ribbon for it
It was just beautiful

Funny enough, I've been putting away some special kids' shirts they've outgrown just for this!

My mother made me something similar before she passed but it didn't involve T-shirts. It has a lot of denim and heavier scraps from old clothes she had made me over the years. I still have it and use it regularly. One of my favorite memories/gifts she ever gave me.

My mom made one for my son for his college graduation. I had been saving special t-shirts (like from Disney and other vacays), school shirts and athletic jerseys since he was little with the intention of doing something with them. It even included the outfit he came home from the hospital in. She didn't quilt it but did add a backing and stitched. It is really nice and he loves it. If I can find one I'll come back and add a pic!

Wow! What a wonderful gift.

My aunt did this for all three of her kids with their youth soccer jerseys. All three played from the time they were 5 through High School. Unbeknownst to the kids, she saved every jersey for all those years and had the quilts created and given to them at their graduation parties.

My daughter has one from 2001. Her high school paid for the 4 seniors to have one made. All 4 seniors played on different traveling fast pitch teams. As you probably know, they buy tee shirts at different tournaments so we gave the lady I think 15-20 shirts? She did something special which I didn't know, she embroidered in the middle Alabama World Championship USSA inductee 2000. I have no idea how much it cost as the school paid for it but she still has it. I highly doubt if she didn't have it, she'd have no idea where all the shirts would be today.
