We ate at T-Rex Cafe last week for the first time. The atmosphere is super cool, but I have to say the food was just fair-I don't think we'd go back. Maybe we should try Rainforest next time.

Well I find the food at T-Rex to be much better than Rainforest. However, if you are going to either for the food I suggest you skip it. It isn't about the food really.

Went with my cousin in October and we thought the food was really good! Guess it depends on what you order?!:confused3

Thats one of the places we are looking forward to the most. The menu reminded me of an Applebees or TGIF, it's all about the atmosphere for me...only 140 days to wait:yay:

Well, I think the food at Rainforest Cafe is just average, so I don't know if I'd go there thinking it was going to be better than TRex. However, like the PP said, you don't really go there for the food, as much as the atmosphere.

We went in June for the 1st time and enjoyed both the food and atmosphere. The waiter was very pleasant and took good care of our table. The food was hot, copious portions (The pot pie could feed 3 people, it was delicious), good french onion soup, great mahi mahi. We really enjoyed it and are going back in Feb, this time we'll save room for the collosal desserts!

My wife and our boys ate there the first week in Nov. It was our first time and we LOVED it. We love the RFC for the atmosphere and the food is ok, but we thought both were better at the T-Rex.

I had a delicious alcoholic drink, I don't remember the name, but we shared a great chicken sandwich and had meteor bites which were little donut holes with powdered sugar and caramel and chocolate dipping sauce for dessert. We pigged out, got stuffed and had a great time. The boys, 3yrs and 18mons, loved it too. lol

We went last month. Dh and I ordered appetizers (Quesadillas and nachos) and shared. They were delicious! Our kids ordered off the kids menu--can't remember what, but they didn't complain! ;)

A few days later we went to Rainforest in AK and again ordered nachos (along with a few other things). The nachos at Rainforest weren't nearly as good as TREx :(

DH and I go for the atmosphere, appetizer sampler and Meteor Bites dessert. That's a lot of food. It's also the only place I can get him to eat tomatoes on bruschetta. Any place that can get him to eat things like that has to be good in my book.

Sorry your food was just so-so. We were there in September and it was one of our best meals of the trip.

We thought the food was better at t-Rex than at Rainforest. But we really just go to those 2 places for the atmosphere not the food. The kids have fun and that is all that counts for us.

We visited TRex Thanksgiving week and the kids enjoyed eating there, but it is one of those "been there done that don't need to go back" places. The food was okay but nothing great and the service was really slow, and we were there during a slow time, place was only half full. But the kids had fun.

We ate there on 11/25 and it was very busy, good job I had made a reservation as the wait time was crazy.

I have no desire to go back but enjoyed the experience, the food was okay.

Everyone says it is basically for the atmosphere... Is this mostly for younger kids? Mine are older and although we have eaten even at some Disney restaurants that were mainly for the atmosphere, it sounded like for young children.

If you didnt care for the food at TRex you might not like Rainforest or Planet Hollywood...the food is very similar, typical Fridays Chilis AppleBees kind of food

I have read a lot of positive reviews of TRex, I am excited to try it one day...especially the cocktails

It absolutely boggles my mind that I've read so many posts over the years that justify some of these places with; "Well, we don't go for the food, mostly the atmosphere..."

Now, I happen to enjoy the food at Rainforest Cafe (I could do without the inflated prices though), but it seems to me that restaurant reviews here are often littered with this, and you could never possibly justify anything else in your life with this comment. I know I'd never go to a Doctor's office and come out saying; "Well, the service was horrible, but the atmosphere was great! :)

Just an observation ;)

What would you recommend getting? Anyone have any pics?

Here's a few pics from our lunch there. I just looked up the menu and am disappointed that the T-Bone is no longer listed...it was soooo yummy.

Here’s my Asteroid French Onion Soup:

And DH’s Chocolate Extinction - which he had as an appetizer. He said he's always too full at the end of a meal for dessert, so he had it in the beginning :rotfl:

OMG – it was HUGE and so cool with the smoke coming out of it. He managed to just eat about a quarter of it.

Lunch came and was fantastic. I had a T-Bone steak…was cooked perfectly and soooo tender (which doesn’t look like it’s on the menu anymore!) –

DH had Primitive Pork Shank with a side of ribs! He loved the Pork Shank.

Not sure how well you will be able to see the food but I do remember that I had the Mahi Mahi Tribal Tacos (came w/ rice, black beans & quac salad for the tacos), DH had a Bronto Burger w/ fries, my neice had the Mammoth Mushroom Ravioli - simmered in a rich lobster cream sauce with roma tomatoes and fresh spinach, my Sis N Law had the Age of Salmon - glazed with orange basil reduction and served with Raptor rice and roasted vegetables (looks like she subbed the rice for mashed potatoes), can't remember what my Bro N Law had (since I cant see it to remember) & my nephew had the kids Mini Corn Dogs w/ side of fruit. The kids had some sort of fruity, ice slush drink that came in those cups.
