T-Rex - How's the Food?

Oooh, maybe I do want to sit in the ice room - sounds cool !!!

So the portions are huge? Please recommend some dishes that can be shared. I'd love to hear what you all thoroughly enjoyed at T-Rex. To give you an idea about us, our family loves food and are not picky eaters. Only thing is that I'm lactose intolerant, so nothing cheesy or creamy. Thanks in advance!!!!

We love T-Rex. We eat there once every trip. I would compare the food to the Keg here in Canada. I have a steak everytime we eat there and it is great! The atmosphere and the whole experience is pretty cool.

Me and hubby went there, got the appetizer, with ribs, and a cotton candy martini....soooo yummy!!The food is ok, imo i liked rainforest better!!I def love the theming in this place..meteor showers sometimes scare little kids though..:thumbsup2

The meteor shower is fun as are the moving, groaning dinosaurs, very entertaining. The food isn't bad. The ribs were good, the mammoth ravioli decent, probably could share either if the 2 people weren't too hungry.

My husband likes the roasted half chicken there, and I have to say it was very good when I tasted it. I love their potato chips and roasted chicken sandwich

We are thinking of trying TRex in Jan. do they take reservations or do you have to wait?

If you've been to Rainforest Cafe then you know what to expect just add dinasours.

Exactly... Still pretty cool, however very loud

I think the food is mediocre at best - nothing to write home about. Very similar to that of Planet Hollywood or Rainforest, very chain-like. As a girl, I prefer Rainforest Cafe over T-Rex but I would do T-Rex if you've already done Rainforest.

Our experience exactly. Food was nothing special and rather expensive.

It was fun to do once with DD however it is not a must do again on our list.

Went to T-Rex twice but that is enough. It has a very unique atmosphere and children usually like it, but the food is nothing special, would much rather Rain Forest Cafe. As some other posters have said, the ice cave is way far out for my DH and me - the bright colored flashing lights make us have nausea and weird feelings. Much better to eat outside of the "ice cave" and see the color changing from a distance. As a PP said, just walking through it during a light change is way too much. The high prices for value is typical Disney so nothing out of the ordinary there. The ribs at Rain Forest are really good though, and we had a great wait staff at both places.

One and done for us. Food was intensely average, service was good though. Just run-of-the-mill Landry's processed salty food.

Was there once and probably wouldnt do it again. Its pretty neat for the first half hour and then it just gets annoying. The food was painfully average and the noise is overbearing. Even my kids wanted to leave if that tells you anything. I dont want to put you off of it though. Its worth the experience I guess.

Glad to see all these favorable reviews, as it's definitely on our list for next summer - DS is already excited! (I mentioned it tonight and he asked if we could go tomorrow...I had to remind him that it's a bit far away, LOL!)

I 100% agree with this:

The atmosphere is completely overbearing and stressful. I eat in a school cafeteria occupied by a couple hundred elementary students on a regular basis. This was much, much worse! So much noise and lights going on and off...:scared1:. I wanted to crawl under the table and put my napkin over my head.

My two younger DDs wanted to watch the t-rex video on the wdw site everyday LOL We showed them to make sure they didn't think it was scary (the gorillas at Rainforest terrify them) and then that was the only planning video they wanted to watch... funny kids :rotfl:

Don't be scared off by the handful of negative comments. Take T-Rex for what it is. It's not "fine dining", it's a good table service restaurant, if you are expecting fine dining then you will be disappointed. If you are expecting a quiet dinner for two, you will also be disappointed. This is a big restaurant with alot going on and it will be noisy. It's a fun Disney type place to eat, but not a quiet corner to get away from the action, if looking for that you need to go somewhere else. Most kids will thoroughly enjoy this place, but if your kids are scared of loud noises or don't like dinosaurs than probably not the right place. All common sense really, some of the complaints literally made me laugh out loud!
