I'd welcome your thoughts on T-Rex for the 2 of us old farts, daughter, SIL and 3 grandkids from 1 to 5 years of age. Apparently they'll be taking ressies in Jan but now it's a walk-up, daughter thinks it's reasonably priced, I hear it's loud and can be scary for some kids. Anyone?

It's anything BUT reasonably priced. Even for WDW, it's extremely expensive, for food that's no different than your average chain restaurant. A friend and I had dinner there recently, for one order of tacos and one salad and two sodas, it came to over $50 including the tip.

It's quite loud; I'm not sure how it would be for the kids. There's a 'meteor shower' every 15 minutes or so with much rumbling, flashing of lights, sounds of meteor impacts, every dino in the place roaring. Pretty much halts all conversation.

I think they're a little young to understand what's going on, so it would either be wasted on them, or scare them.

If your family likes Rainforest Cafe, they might enjoy this as well. Otherwise, I'd look elsewhere.

We were there last week and LOVED it. I'm not sure how the previous poster spent $50 for what they got but it's on the level with the rain forest cafe. We had a great waiter and reallly enjoyed it. My 13 year old son thought it was cool. We sat in the sequia (sp) room. There is an ice cave and other rooms with animatronic dinos. We got there around 7:45 pm and walked right in. The drinks (alcoholic) that my husband got were a bit pricey but they came with a glass.

My kids loved this restaurant! Our boys were 7, 5, and 3 and our daughter was 1 1/2. The "thunderstorm" didn't scare them at all and my 3 year old is still talking about the dinosaurs. The food is expensive, but I felt it was worth it.

I think my DS's would love this. We are on a budget, so how much do you think a family of 5 would spend here? What meals are they open for? We have never been to Rainforest Cafe either, so I don't know what to compare it to price wise.

They're open for lunch and dinner.

Here's a menu:

With $17 tacos and $16 salads, I can definitely see how two people can spend over $50 with sodas and tip.

Thanks....I didn't even think to look at All Ears. It is pricey, but I think we can swing it. Do you think they will have holiday price increases like the Disney Restaurants do? We will be there Easter week.

I have heard that it might be scary for many little ones in that age range. If they don't like loud noises (I know my younger brother was petrified of anything loud, including fireworks) or darkness, it might be a good idea to skip it.

There are reports that some small children may be afraid of the darkness, volume and big noisy dinosaurs. If the children in your party are afraid of any of this, it may not be the place for them.

We didn't eat there, but we did take a quick walk-thru the restaurant and experienced the meteor shower.

Our 2yo son didn't seem overly phased by it, but it was pretty loud and the lights were flashing on and off and the animals were all making some relatively loud noises.

I think it depends on the kid. Our son isn't afraid of the dark, but can be afraid of loud noises (like fireworks). Overall he was fine with it, but if you know the kids don't like loud stuff, then I'd say to avoid it.

If they're not taking adr's, I'd walk in to the gift shop that adjoins it and see how the kids do once the shower starts before actually sitting down to eat there. If they seem ok with it, put your name on the list, if not...I'd skip it.
