Has anyone eaten at the T-rex Restaurant at Downtown Disney? Is it good? Do you need reservations?

We loved T Rex. The ribs are super good. The burger was good but is a burger. It is what I was craving at the time. It is a fun place to eat.

We love T-Rex. We are all adults so we usually eat at the bar. It looks like you would need reservations for the dining room. We have had the nachos, mozzarella, ribs, burgers, chicken, steak/shrimp combo, waffle fries. Love it!
Can't wait til March 2 when we plan to eat there again! Join the rewards club for discounts.

We ate there this past September and quite frankly, it was our favorite meal of the whole week. Definitely try the chocolate extinction dessert - totally looks like a touristy dessert, but is soooo good! I would personally request to be in the ice age section, if you can. :thumbsup2

Loved it!!! I ate there is May 2009 but it was really yummy and it was my favorite part of the trip.

what about for a 2 year old? too intense?

We absolutely love T-Rex. We have been going every trip since my son was 3 and yes, the first visit was a little intense for him but he now loves it as well. I love the mushroom raviolis and the bruschetta is to die for.

I would recommend reservations but don't do them online with Disney. Call T-Rex direct and they will have way more available times.

We're gonna be there March 2nd too! Made our ressies for it last week sinc ethe little one obviously can't sit at the bar. :thumbsup2

We went March 2010 and we had no reservations we just walked up and put our name on the list and got a buzzer the wait was about 30mins. It's basically like a Rainforest Cafe but with Dinosaurs...it was fun and the food was good. I don't remember what we ate, but I had a really nice Cotton Candy Martini Drink yummmm.

I went there with some coworkers on a business trip. I wasn't that impressed....but I got a burger and I'm usualliy not a fan of burgers in restaurants. Our service was very very slow. But after these responses I may need to try it again!

We like it, ate there in September and will be returning there in May.

If you decide to go, call the restaurant directly to get a reservation. They give Disney a small number of tables to book and those run out quickly.

Agreed. Disney reservation showed no availability on my date but the restaraunt let us pick whatever time we wanted. They hold some seats for Disney reservations, but the place seats 950 and a reservation generally guarantees you not having to wait as long as others. Unlike restaraunts in Disney, the get a lot of walk-ups and accomodate them all.

Went for lunch in September. Walked up at 11:15 and were seated immediately. Food was ok. But I don't consider it great. Not bad, but just ok. It is very loud during the meteor shower. So if your little one has sensitive ears, plan to cover them or be prepared for whining.

If you've never been, I say go once and give it a try. Normally I love places like this. And I do love the theming. But the food is begining to give me nightmares. I know my 6 year old loves it here, and so we will be going again for our 4th time in August. I just don't like the food myself...

We ate there on a Thursday afternoon with no reservations last April and the place was empty. It was lunch time too. The atmosphere is fun and cool but the food was nothing to write home about. If you've been to Rainforest Cafe, Planet Hollywood, Hard Rock - any of those kinds of places - it's the same type of food. Very chain-like. Not bad, just not the best meal. If you've got kids they will love the atmosphere!

IMO... you go there for the theming, not necessarily the food. I wouldn't say the food is bad... but its just ok. You go for the dino's, for sure. what about going for dessert?

We have and I didn't really care for it. The kids and I went to the one in, I think, Overland Park, KS (just outside of Kansas City). They quite enjoyed that experience.

We went to the DTD location this past August--I swear that volume was cranked up 10X. And I have no idea why. I met my BIL there who is from KC and he and I both agreed that it just wasn't good and the younger kids were a bit bothered by the noise and could not enjoy it. (and they are not sound sensitive kids).

That said, the food was fine. I just didn't enjoy the atmosphere with my family as I did at another location.

Great! See you there. We will be the family of DM, DS25 and DDIL24sitting at the bar enjoying the nachos! :woohoo:
