Hi all! :wave2:

Target has a special offer on the Sunday circular. Buy a $100.00 card and get a free phone (value is 39.99), This phone service is good if you just use your cell phone occasionally. The free phone also comes with a $15.00 airtime card.

I think this is a good deal, $100.00= 1000 minutes that expire in one year. :goodvibes

HI

I have a few questions that maybe you can answer. I have had a Verizon phone/cell service for two years---contract is up in a couple weeks. I an an "occassional" user; I got it really for emergencies and nothing else. So, for the questions:

1. I am assuming that T-Mobile works something like having a phone call (I use one for long distance service). Is this correct?

2. When someone calls me on T-Mobile, does this use my minutes? (I really don't expect to give the number out to anyone but my daughter, so this should not be a problem)

3. The only calls I seem to get on my cell phone are those "solitatation" calls...not sure why? How can I avoid them on the T-Mobile phone as I'm assuming the answer to question 2 is yes???

Thanks for any assistance, Cindy

1. T-mobile works just like a regular cellphone, except that this one is prepaid. You purchase airtime, and unlike regular cellphone plans that require contracts, prepaids do not need any contracts, you can cancel anytime. It's great for people who use less than 300 minutes per month, who use it just for emergencies, or for kids where the parents can limit their spending

2. Yes, it does use your minutes. Just like a normal cell phone.

3. You could've gotten it because you may have put that number on some form somewhere sometime and now the solicitors have it. It could've also been listed as a home phone and not a cellphone on some mailing/calling list.
If you want to avoid them on your cellphone, you might consider a new number alltogether, then don't put your cellphone number on any form. If you do have to put it on a form, you might want to check the box that you don't want to be contacted, that you want to opt-out from any promotional mailing/calling.
You might want to also register the cellphone number on the do not call registry.

Thanks for the information. I'm off on Thrusday and plan to hit Target that day.
