Hello All...I thought it was about time i started my own PJ after being so absorbed in everyone else's :). These forums are amazing and such a huge help...I can't wait to connect with everyone!

A little about us...
Justin and I met at work almost 3 years ago. Maybe met is a strong word :) We both were hired at a major aerospace company as Technical Design Engineers straight out of College, He moved all the way to Seattle from Texas and I relocated to Seattle all the way from Florida. Prior to being placed into our groups we went through a month long training course to get us ready. Justin was nearing the end of his month as I was just beginning mine. As the days went on I would notice this cutie peeking in and passing my training room often. One day we passed each other in the hallway, he flashed a smile and said ‘hi”, I definitely took notice but there was no way I would act on it since we worked at the same place, we could end up being in the same group! I continued to see him around for the next week or so until he was placed into his group. I wasn’t expecting to run into him any time soon since i had been placed on a completely different program. Besides I had enough on my plate getting acquainted with the new job, new city and new place. Months later there was an Engineering Orientation, SURPRISE....guess who was sitting at the table right next to me? The last thing on my mind was meeting someone, it’s really funny how things turn out :) ...To make a long story short, he asked for my number, we clicked instantly and the rest is history...

The proposal...
April 16th, 2010...As usual the weather in Seattle was not cooperative...He had been trying to convince me to go to the San Juan Islands for a weekend trip, I continued to be my practical self and tell him we would be stuck inside the whole time due to the weather and we should save our trip for the sun...I guess he had been planning the proposal for months, apparently he had asked my son and mother for my hand behind my back and was waiting for the right moment. Work that day was stressful and had put me in a foul mood. He sensed I was upset and asked me to meet him at the car, I was already on edge and even more annoyed that he was going to make me walk all the way to the car, but I did. We talked for a bit when I got there and he worked his magic and managed to make the stress disappear, before we parted ways he dropped to one knee in the parking lot...He said this is where we met, where we fell in love, that he loved me and my son and said we were blessings to him, he said he promised to love and take care of us forever and would I bless him by being his wife...he continued on saying he had already asked my son and mom for permission...I was shocked and I burst into tears...let me tell you, there was no "cute" crying! It was full on ugly tears...I had my hands over my mouth in shock and disbelief...I couldn’t even gather the words to answer him...I just pulled him up off his knee and held him...tears were falling by the bucket load...that’s when he said "I'll take that as a yes"...

We’re planning our Wishes wedding…for April 10, 2011….I’m so excited and overwhelmed…I’ve barely begun planning with around 7 months left…I look forward to everyone’s input :goodvibes

ALOHA!

Awww omg..I luv ur story. As i was reading it my eyes started to tear. Congratulations and I look forward to hearing more.

Looking forward to following along as our wedding is 6 days before yours and the day we get back from our cruise! Can't wait to see the details and hear more. :)

OH EMM GEE!
Hi all :wave2:! Thanks for reading and posting everyone...I'm feeling the love

Once we decided to have a wedding for our families (we were considering eloping in Hawaii) I knew Orlando would be a great location. I have been going to Disney World ever since I was tiny :earsgirl:and this way it would be a vacation for all. So the search starts all the way from the opposite corner of the country...

After out visit to Orlando to scout wedding venues and see Micky ;)...We scheduled a site visit with Diane our WC from DFTW. The first place we were shown was the WP. I didn't really think this would be "us" but we took a look anyways...we both fell in love with the Wedding Pavillion...I mean absolutely blown away...I can't describe the feeling but I was speechless, in awe, totally got "chicken skins"... :lovestruc

We toured a few other sites for the reception, Contemporary, some Epcot locations none of them really "hit" me as being the place...DF and I wanted something a bit "different". We didn't want a standard ballroom reception...It was Disney after all...If we were going to go the ballroom route we could have done that from Seattle ;), and besides...it just wasn't "us". I originally wanted to have CG for our reception. it turns out the private rooms were to small for the amount of guests (approx. 75-110). There was one more spot on our list that DF was looking forward to seeing, ADH...unfortunately it was unavailable to view during our site visit. Since we would be in the Disney area for a few more days, Diane suggested we stop by and take a peek, which is exactly what we did. We ended up going to the Boardwalk on a Weds. night. I don't remember the exact time but they were setting up ADH as a dance club for the night. They allowed us in and let me tell you....as soon as I walked in my jaw dropped...I got that feeling and started to tear. I swear to you all, I have never been the crying type but as you can see this wedding stuff has me on an emotional roller coaster. :scared:

So here's where we are on the planning side of it...

I wanted to have a tropical feel from the start, I've also decided to do a nod to vintage since the WP resembles an old white washed Hawaiian church, and ADH is art deco...this reminded of old Hawaiian vintage postcards. I have been dancing Hula and Tahitian since i was younger and i knew i would need to have this included in my wedding celebration. I also plan to keep this fun nothing too formal...is this even possible?

Our colors will be Coral, Light Aqua with accents of Grey.

As far as the bridal party goes...
Brides attendants
2 MOHs (my bestie and sis in-law)
3 BMs (3 of my dearest friends)
1 jr BM (my niece)
2 FG (my nieces)

Grooms attendants
1 BM (DFs dad :) )
4 GM (DF's step brother, cousins and bestie)
1 jr GM (my son)
1 ring bearer (my nephew)

We plan to incorporate some Hawaiian customs in the ceremony and will have my hula sister marry us.

We have the MOH dresses picked
The groom bought a gorgeous Grey pin striped 3 piece-suit
The GMs and best man will be wearing solid Grey suits.
I also bought a Grey seersucker suit for my nephew to wear a while back...I'm not sure if it goes now O_o...

I'm still looking for "the" dress...I've gone to 4 separate bridal shops to try dresses and nothing... I'm beginning to get worried. According to all of the bridal time lines i've read I'm already behind schedule. I'm not a "dress" girl as it is so this is one of the worst parts for me.
Has anyone else gone through this? Do you really just "know" when you have found the "one"?

Love this dress!! Where is it from?

Hi tinkerbell 766! So glad you like them :goodvibes We found these dresses at Nordstrom a few months back...I absolutely love them and my MOHs look gorgeous in them...they remind me of old Hollywood glam.

Hi All! Happy Monday:goodvibes! I've been straining my brain trying to figure out how to incorporate a tropical vintage feel throughout the wedding... O_O...I'm going nuts! I wanted to at least get started on ideas for our welcome bags...and invite stuff...I've seen some great work and ideas from people on the board...would love some input...Feel free to let me know if I'm completely off my rocker and my theme is impossible:lmao:
I was trying to go in the direction of vintage Hawaiian travel posters...art deco/ tropical...aaaahhhh! I am actually clueless...anything helps ;)
Aloha~

Hi, I just wanted to pop in and say all your wedding plans sound great so far! Pretty BM dresses, love coral! As for your dress shopping, have you tried on things you never would have pictured yourself in? I went dress shopping and said I wanted a dress with straps, no beading, and no veil, I ended up with the complete opposite! haha, so my advice is to go outside of the box, bridal is so different, you never know what will look good! I'm not sure I have any good ideas for your theme, since my wedding is pretty much themeless haha, but I'm sure there are some cool ideas if you look on the internet. Happy planning! :goodvibes

schallerb thanks so much for reading and the dress advice ^_^...I went looking with no clue as to what would look good on me. I've actually been able to narrow it down to a shape so that's progress...I've just had no emotional attachment, much less a reaction...Did you know it was "the one" when you had it on? As for my theme...I love it :)...unfortunately and fortunately...I havent seen much reference on the internet...I'll keep searchingt though...thanks for the encouragement!!!

Welcome to the DIS boards and congrats! Your story is very cute. Me and DF are also using WP, ADH, and UK Lonchside (for our rehearsal)! I am very excited to follow your plans! I think your theme sounds really neat and can't wait to see what you incorporate! Don't worry about being behind on the dress shopping, I haven't even been to one bridal salon yet! (Although my wedding is 2 months after yours) I am sure you will find something you love! Can't wait to read more.

As for the dress, I didn't cry or anything like that. But I tried it on and just fell in love. I didn't want to take it off, and every dress I tried on after that I compared to my dress and mine always won, haha. When you find a dress you can't stop thinking about, it's probably the one! Also, my dress is ivory, I had all intentions of getting a white dress, but the ivory really makes my dress what it is, you might like it, you never know. Just be open to trying everything on and eventually everything will fall into place.

Do a google search and make sure you click on the "images" tab then search for "vintage tropical wedding" and another search for "tropical wedding". There are lots of great pics. If you need ideas for things to put in the welcome bags...check out this thread:

Check out this pj as it has pictures for a great location at Disney that would work with a "tropical" wedding and she had a tropical theme as well:

Thanks for the dress feedback girls :goodvibes. I have another appointment today after work...Wish me well!

Dolly~Thanks for all those links it's so easy to get lost in these forums and forget where you saw thing that might be useful...:confused3...Me and Google are best friends...I have found tropical and vintage inspired weddings but nothing really with the combination of both. I'm determined to make this all work though ;) BTW I love love LOVE your work...You are awesome:thumbsup2! I would love to have some work done by you if time allows...I read a few of your posts and saw your son plays for the Longhorns...i had to tell my DF who is originally from Austin and a HUUUGE Longhorns fan! He was beyond excited ^_^ ! The flag actually just went up in our window (we have a new neighbor who is a Oklahoma fan). We make a longhorns pumpkin every year and he even was trying to push burnt orange as one of our wedding colors:cutie:

Have a great day ladies!

I finally got some wedding stuff for myself...SHOES!!! ^_^

OMG - I LOVE your shoes! I am a total shoe addict and your shoes are AMAZING!

When looking at dresses, I agree with the other posts. I went in the complete opposite direction of what I had originally wanted (or what I thought I wanted). With your theme and colors, ivory might be a good choice.

Keep looking - I went to several shops before I found my dress and, according to all schedules and timelines, I was waaaay behind in finding it. There are a lot of places where you can purchase off the rack or rush a special order. Good luck tonight!

2nd Time Bride Thanks for the dress advice...I found a "nice" dress...it fit well but I still did not get that feeling so the hunt is still on...

So we just sent off our LOA and deposit...It's even more official now :goodvibes...Also picked up a few items for our Welcome bags...lint brushes @ .50 cents a piece...a toy story snack container and cup for my ring bearer for $1.25 and dresses for my BM to get ready and run around in the day before the wedding...I snagged those at Target for $3.75 each :cool1:...I love steals like this!

Hi! I just picked up on this PJ and am loving it so far! The vintage Hawaiian theme is totally genius!!! :thumbsup2 And very unique. I'm picturing scenes from Pearl Harbor (um, the non-violent scenes obviously). I love your BM dresses and the SHOES and I'm sure you'll find just the dress to suit you as well. I'm looking forward to hearing more about your plans!

bambi0921 that was exactly what I'm trying to go for....most people are left scratching their heads when i try to explain it! LOL!
*UPDATE*
I had a few dress appointments this weekend. One was to discuss a custom dress...but to make a long story short...I FOUND A DRESS!!! :cool1: I initially went in to discuss a custom dress and it turns out all the inspiration pictures I brought in were very similar to a dress they had...I tried it on and loved the detailing (although it was a sz 6 and barely fit over my butt) so i paid the down payment once it comes in I will make a few custom changes...I'm going to add a slit and remove the crinoline...Also the shoulder strap is removable! I love that I'll be able to switch things up and truly make it my own...what a huge relief ^_^
