I like to fill all the little squares but it has to be real maple syrup, no fake stuff here.

Syrup on the waffle--- I have honestly never witnessed anyone dipping a waffle in syrup LOL--seems strange to me.

On the waffle, all the holes filled in and enough extra syrup around the plate to dip the bottom of the waffle bites in!

For me, syrup on the waffle and fill the little holes. For the kids, dip it in the syrup. It is less messy for them to eat waffles that way.

For my kids, it's cut the waffles in strips and dip them in dip cups full of syrup.

Neither. Plain. No syrup, no butter, no sugar, no fruit, no peanut butter, no jam/jelly/preserves, no whipped cream, no nuts, no chocolate chips or other flavor candy morsels, no nothin'. Just plain. Belgian-style preferred. Cooked until quite dark and crunchy. Only way to eat a waffle, IMHO (DH disagrees ). Yum.
