I'm completely stoked about our upcoming trip:yay: , but the thread about possible problems at the Buffalo airport's got my paranoid-o-meter soaring!:scared1:

We leave from Syracuse at 10 a.m. on March 14th. Dh's idea was to leave after midnight (to avoid any lines at the border) and arrive at the airport around 6 a.m. I never thought that an airport parking lot would get filled but the Buffalo airport thread makes me wonder if we'll have problems.

I'd appreciate it if anyone could give me some advice and suggestions!:worship:

TIA:goodvibes

SYR is an excellent airport and VERY user-friendly. Have no fears!!!

Hmmm, gotta go see what's happening at Buffalo...

We always fly out of Syracuse and its very easy to maneuver..

You can get decent hotels in Syracuse for $60 saves worrying about weather, traffic etc...Just a thought..:)

We do the Park n Fly at the Best Western Express- they have a pool and continental breakfast! They have shuttles to the airport and you can leave your car for week without worrying about it. Plus they have continental breakfast. We went down last year after school and there was mabie a 20 min. wait at the border. I think that if you cross at midnight you'll be in Syracuse 2am at the latest. My sister lives in Syracuse and it takes us 1 hr. 45 min. Plus the airport is on this side of Syracuse so it's one of the first exits. You don't want to be driving around Syracuse at 2am. There are areas that are not that safe. :thumbsup2

We are on the 6am flight out of SYracuse on the 14th and are staying at the Ramada. THeir park and fly package includes buffet breakfast and parking so we booked the Friday night at the regular price and the P&F rate ($20 more) for the Sat night we get back.

Question: what time should we be at the airport for a 6am departure, given no customs to go through? I am thinking 4:30 -- is this too early>?

I would say thats reasonable. You still have to clear security. Nothing worse then rushing through the airport IMO...:)

As another poster has said, Syracuse has a good airport.

If you are wondering about parking, the covered parking building is hard to beat for the cold weather months. We flew out of Syracuse last Janaury and left our vehicles in the parking building. I think the rate was $8.50 per day. Talking to an official at the parking building, I was told there is no problem getting a spot in the building, as long as you get there fairly early in the day (say by 8 a.m.). We got there at about 7 a.m. for a 9:15 flight, and the parking building was not completely full but getting there. It does fill up. At that point, you would have to use one of the outdoor lots. They are a bit cheaper.

If you are planning to arrive in Syracuse around 6 a.m., you should not have a problem getting into any of the parking lots.

Have a great trip.
