Sword in the stone show tips..

Hi all,

My almost 5 year old son just watched the "Sword in the Stone" DVD for the first time today, and REALLY liked it !! I was kind of surpised as it wasn't even by Pixar! .

It occurred to me that I remember seeing a sword in the stone show once, by the carrosel in fantasyland. Does anyone know what time or day they run ? Also if you have and strategies that would help to getting him picked to be the king !

I don't think they do the show any more....or we've totally missed it the last 3 trips???

I was just doing some reading on all the rides at Magic Kingdom and came across the information that the last sword has been pulled. It looks like it still happens in "DISNEYLAND". Sounds like it would have definitely been a magic moment for someone.


Sword in the Stone
FINAL SWORD CEREMONY TOOK PLACE ON AUGUST 15, 2006



This was a cute ceremony where Merlin chose a child to pull the sword out of the stone. (That thing didn't budge otherwise.) It took place in front of the Carousel and was a nice little diversion to watch. The lucky child chosen would always have the power to pull the sword out and a special celebration followed. The new "ruler of the realm" would be outfitted with a robe and crown and presented with a keepsake medallion and certificate.

We were there in Sept, Oct and Dec and it wasn't listed on the entertainment schedule they give you at the parks....

IIRC, they didn't have it last year during off season, but I think I remember someone posting that they had it during the summer months. Hopefully someone will confirm that.

It's been awhile since we've seen Merlin in the park, I love The Sword in the Stone.
