Switching rooms that are different point values question

Hello everyone!! We are staying at Kidani standard view but would like to go to the Savanah View. Right now they don't have any more savanah view for when we go down. I tell my B/F to call everyday to check if a room has become available but he never ever calls becuase he says he forgets so my question is if for some reason he keeps forgetting to call and even if he does remeber but there is no availability can we still request a savanah view room when we check in at the resort and if they do have a room will they be able to do transfer the points and what not at the check-in desk?? Does that make sense?:goodvibes
 
You don't want to do that at check in. Points will get very messed up.

We were but they said 30 days before your trip they take you off the list and you have to call each day.

Yeah I didn't know if that would even work with a CM trying get it together at check-in. Is it not possible or just not a good idea to try to do it at check-in?

Possible, yes. However, I'd heed Deb & Bill's warning, and not try it. Whenever the front desk gets involved in point reservation transactions, things get messed up.

For instance, what likely would happen, is they'd cancel your existing reservation and book you into Savannah, if available...so far no problem, right? Wrong. Their system would likely cancel your standard ressie and put those points into holding status, then use new points (or borrow points) to book the Savannah room. Then you'll have to contact Member services for manual adjustments to your account, using those holding points for the Savannah reservation, and either returning the points the front desk used for Savannah to your current use year, or manually returning them to the use year they were borrowed from. Resort personnel just aren't properly trained (or maybe don't have the right computer system) to properly handle point transactions.

Waitlists can be set up to run until 7 days prior to check in or 30 days prior to check in. If you have the second type (active until 30 days prior), call MS and have them change that to "7 days prior".
 
If there is availability when you check in, can you just get on your cell phone with MS right there and have them arrange it over the phone?

Tomorrow will be 7 days but I will remember that for the next time. Thanks for the tip!

I wonder.... but it sounds like it's more trouble then it's worth to do anything right at check in. Chances are we will be way to busy too even look at the animals out of our room. If we really want to see them we could just walk to where you can see them.
