Well I just found out hubby will be getting a nice bonus check before our vacation. The whole vacation is already paid for and spending money is also saved. Now I thinking of switching resorts we are currently staying at *** .I would love to stay at a moderate or even a deluxe. But on the other hand if I stay at the sports thats lots more money that i can spend on food and stuff. Who would switch if you could and why. My daughter wants to stay at the comtempoary so shes close to the monorail her favorite ride LOL .Everyone tell me what you think,

Do you plan to stay in the park from day till dawn? If you do, I would suggest you NOT switching the resort.

No we will do parks in the morning then go back in the afternoon to swim ,eat lunch or just to rest. This will be our 3 trip in 5 years.Never stayed anywhere but the all sports. We really like it except for the small beds

I would splurge. The moderates have great pool slides. You also may want to check WL and AKL. Even though they are deluxe hotels, the often are alot cheaper than Poly and CR. WL has an awesome pool and great places to eat. Plus, you can take the ferry to MK.l

It sounds like you'll be at the resort quite a bit, so I'd say do the switch! We did that last year, we started at ASMo, then moved over to WL, and it was like 2 trips in one! Good luck and have a great time!!:D

Can someone tell me why the names of resorts are appearing as *** ? I thought those little asterisks were only for names of body parts! What's the deal?

I believe the OP is staying at Allstar Sports, and probably typed in an abbreviation of that, can you guess what is spelled, lol?:D

I would switch. Since the resort is such a big part of your stay, I would say that the upgrade would be a great experience. Since you said you already had everything saved, how about a combination? Upgrade to a moderate, like POR, and then you can still have extra spending money, too. Or, if you think you have enough spending money saved, go for a deluxe! I think the experience would be more worth it than the extra *stuff*, but that's just me!

Good luck!

If you are taking children then definitely swith to a Deluxe. They are very convenient for mid-day breaks and swims. I would not however switch from a Value to a Moderate. A nice room and location can make or break a vacation for me, and there is a HUGE difference between value and deluxe. Inside hallways, full balconies, nicer pools, easy to get to after long day at parks, larger rooms, better dining options, etc. My favorite among deluxes is Polynesian (especially if you have kids)

We're in the planning stage for our trip in October and when I asked my 8 y.o. dd if she would rather stay at a cheaper resort so that we'd have more money for "stuff" her reply was: "Mommy we already have enough Disney "stuff" let's stay at a beautiful hotel!", she's so right so we're staying at the Poly. I'd definitely switch!

ticketwm35,

I'd switch as well. From what I've read, you've stayed at the AS more than once, so try something new! Try out one of the delux hotels for a change. I've found it can be a mistake to try to "re-live" the same vacations you had in the past - that can be problematic, limiting and unfulfilling. (Not that you ARE trying to do that... ;) ) Its just that there are so many awesome, wonderful experiences awaiting you at the World, it would be unfortunate to let habit keep you from them. Sorry to be so philosophic, we are talking hotel reservations after all.

The Poly has a great pool and beautiful surrounding gardens. Being able to pop onto the airconditioned comfort of the monorail can't be beat. Its a BIG plus. Try renting a watermouse or sailboat. Talk about cheap entertainment! You can do that at the GF, the Poly or the CR.

If you plan on spending a good deal of time at the resort, then you probably won't want length of stay passes to the parks, so that could save you some money.

A lot of people say that Storm along bay is very best hotel pool in WDW. Consider staying at the BC or YC - very convenient for Epcot and not very far from the MK. Will your stay in October be during the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival? If so, you won't want to miss that... and the BC is the perfect place to enjoy it.

I'd say try something new & make the switch. The convenience of CR to MK is worth the price.

Also, depending on the length of your stay why don't you do a split stay. Start at an AS & then move to CR. I think you would love a deluxe resort. Being close the monorail is awesome.

Isn't it a hassle to move from one resort to another? I would think that most people would rather stay put after they are unpacked. Does the resort people move your stuff from one resort to another?

Is it a hassel to move to another resort? I would agree with other posters who point out it depends on how long you are staying. We stayed 4 nights at AKL and 5 nights at YC - both concierge. It was fun for us to move, but next october (for the epcot food and wine festival) my DW wants to stay in ONE hotel. We'll have to talk about that... ;) since it seems like having two vacations instead of one when you switch hotels.

The logistics of the move were pretty painless. We packed the bags, called the bell desk, went downstairs with the bags and kept on goin... off to epcot. We went over to the YC in the afternoon, stopped at the bell desk, they had a person run us up to the concierge floor (key access needed for the elevator), we checked in upstairs at the conceirge desk and moments later our bags were in the room, and we were enjoying a libation on our new balcony.

I'm fairly sure it would be similar moving to and from any of the other disney resorts, even those without concierge service, though in that case the transfer may require a more "hands on" approach. The folks at the bell desk can make it easy. A smile and a nice tip can work miracles.
