Switching from WL to the Dolphin...cab?

We are going to split our Dec stay, and since we are going from a WDW resort to non-WDW....I do not think bell services will make the change for us. I am guessing a cab is my best bet....I am planning to check our bags at WL, since the plan for the day of the switch is MGM...I am going to quick head over to check-in at the Dolphin, get room etc., meet back up at MGM and then later in the night make the actual shifting of luggage ...anyone have any helpful ideas or better way to go about this? I am guessing $10 for the cab?

In March we spilt our stay between Y&B and Swan. We called bell services in the a.m. They collected our luggage and arranged for the transfer to the Swan. Transfers of luggage are done between 12 and 3 p.m. When we arrived later in the day at Swan our luggage was waiting in our room. No need to waste $$ on a cab. Just take the bus to your new resort.

I just read on another thread that the Disney resorts will transfer luggage to the Swan/Dolphin. So you can just check out of your room at WL and leave your luggage with them. Enjoy your day at MGM with your family, and then boat (or even walk) to the Dolphin when you are done. There are no busses between MGM and the Dolphin. If you're worried about getting a particular room request, you might want to pop over to the Dolphin in the afternoon some time just to check in with the front desk, but you can wait until you're done in the park to take everything up to your room. It seems like most people have to have a bell hop take the luggage to their room when they are physically present. I'm not sure if that's to assure all the luggage is there or just to assure a tip
