Switching from package to room only?

I have 2 trips planned this summer. One is as a chaperone for my son's school trip at the end of June, so I don't have control of those tickets or the reservation. The 2nd will be in August with my daughter. We currently have a package booked with a little mermaid room at AOA.

I am thinking about the possibility of taking my ticket from the school trip at the end of June and upgrading it to an annual pass while I am there. If I do this, I would need to change the package for August to a room only reservation and buy separate tickets for my daughter.

Are there any possible downsides to this? Is there any danger that I won't be able to change the reservation? It will be inside the 60 day FP+ window. Do I risk losing my FP+ reservations? Any thing else I am not thinking of?

Thanks!!

Packages and room-only reservations are different systems, so when removing the ticket you will really be canceling the package and rebooking the room. You won't lose FP+, but there's a risk you won't be able to rebook the room.

Do you know for sure that you can even update the school trip ticket? If they got any kind of "special" ticket, they usually can not be upgraded

No, I'm not sure I can upgrade it. I assumed they were normal tickets, but maybe not. I won't know until I get there. I guess I will have to ask about upgrading the ticket, first and then see if I can change the hotel reservation before I actually do the upgrade.
