Switched to AKV at 7 months!!

I'm really happy!!!!

I'm taking DBF away for his 30th birthday Jan 09 and we were booked in at SSR (home resort)....I know he really wants to try for AKV at some point during our membership life so I figured "why not?"

I got thru to MS this morning and switched our SSR Studio for a Savannah View Studio - 6 more points but it's a special trip and he doesn't even know about it yet!!

I plan to surprise him on the flight home from our December 08 trip - tell him we're going back in a month We'll actually be there for his 30th so it will be so special

I'm so excited too though - Anything we should try and do at AKV while we're there? Tell me all about this beautiful resort

I've heard others say that Jiko is one of the best restaurants on WDW property - we haven't eaten there yet, though. Why not book a birthday dinner at Jiko? We have eaten at Boma (it's buffet style - less "formal") and that's fantastic, as well. Two great restaurants right where you are staying - how convenient is that?

Thank you for the restaurant advice - I may take up one of them for a night on the trip - for his actual birthday I'm going to do the Fantasmic dinner package as it's his favourite thing to do at WDW....

I'm just so pleased I switched without having to do the day-by-day part!!

DH and I stayed there in April, we wound up adding on there too! We spent a great night in the lodge......first we sat out on one of the viewing areas, in big rockers just watching the animals, peacocks, giraffe, zebra, cattle, all came so close to where we were - we spent about an hour there just relaxing and loving it. Then we went to the lounge, which is overlooking Boma, for some drinks and an appetizer, then we had dinner at Boma and then walked the grounds. It was an awesome night!

I did the same thing, and we just got back from an awesome trip. The resort is beautiful. It was my husband's 46th birthday while we were there. I ordered him a zebra cake that was delivered to the room, and a cm gave him a birthday button with instructions to wear it all week. I did call to request Arusha Savannah to avoid construction. We loved this resort. We even got lucky with the buses. Have a great trip!
