Switch to Free Dining Plan??

We have our resort, tickets, and QS dining plan booked for April 2020. If by some Disney miracle the free dining becomes available for our stay period, will I be able to call and make the change to get itor will I have to cancel all of my reservation and rebook with free dining? In hindsight ,we should have just booked the resort and tickets and waited to add dining plan.

Well, in genuine hindsight, it's best to wait for a discount to be announced. Discounts are typically offered to increase business/fill rooms. If enough people book packages of rooms now at your resort, there may not be any offers. You would have to change resorts.

Not to be entirely negative, but "free" dining in April shouldn't be expected.

discounts through later April came out in September and need to be booked by 1/2/20. Next discount will likely cover the very end of April and dates after that.
Have you checked the Disney website to see if you dates qualify for those April discounts and is there any availability? we are booked for April under the "Gift of Magic" discount.

We booked at Pop Century with the Gift of Magic Discount, combined with the 20% Canadian Resident ticket discount but added the QS dining plan at full cost. We are there from April 21 through April 28.

I don’t expect fd to be offered that week.
But if you’ve already got a room discount and the Canadian tickets booked anyways, that’s pretty good.

IF free dining were to come out, you'd lose the other discounts you already have. Free dining is only combined with rack rate and full price tickets. So, in your case, it's highly likely you would have to cancel the reservation you have and start fresh.
