Switch from ASmo to POFQ for the pool worth it?

We're going 10/1-10/7 to ASmo w/ DH, DS5, and DD2. We've scheduled a lot of down time at the resort as my kids won't do well with long days at the park or no break days.

I was considering upgrading (if they get a cancellation with the free dining soon) to POFQ because I expect we will spend a lot of time in the pool and my kids would love the fountains and the slide. It's approx $400 more for the stay. I'm a little torn. We don't have a lot of money and it would be a lot for us. Also, I'm worried that the kids might really enjoy the theming better at ASmo.

Is the pool worth it?

I think your children will adore ASMovies! This resort is very Disney and very kids friendly. I think it is more for families with kids of all ages, but especially for toddlers and preschoolers and kindergarteners and...

We like this resort. This is our first ever on site resort (besides CBR). We really enjoyed ourselves here.

To our family, it is very worth it to go with POFQ. POFQ room is a tad bigger, but what I like about this room is that it already comes with fridge (at no cost) and it comes with coffee maker and the coffee packets. They have curtain to seperate the sink area from the bed area. This is good so I can have my privacy when I'm changing while one of my kids are in the bathroom. Also we love the boat ride to DD. It is so relaxing. And I see the boat ride as part of attraction and not just a transportation. My kids are "pool kids". They love pool. And having the serpent tongue slide is very fun to them. And there an area there where the fountain (clam or shell sprays water). I find the water here luke warm (bath water) and I love it! I don't have to shiver in the water.

What's nice about this place is that you can also use POR pool (not to mention the refillable mugs from POFQ can be used at POR too!).

This is the pix that has the fountain, you can't really tell from the shell.

My daugther on our way to Ohana. My children loves the slide! Sorry, I don't have lots of pixs of my kids at the pool. All they wanted was to swim and have a good time and they just didn't want to pose for me. Maybe next time I will just take a snap shots of them!

Wow! Thanks for the pics! It sounds like you think we'll be well of in either place?

Yes, either way, I'm sure your kids will enjoy their stay! ASMo is a very fun cool resort! If your children love Toy Story movie, then they will want to be in the Buzz/Woody section. Ask toa be in the courtyard view so they can see "Andy's Room." Or if they like 101 Dalmation then ask for that section. But if you want quiet, I would suggest to be put towards the back, away from the pool. I think ASMovies has the best food selections comparing to any other food court. And it is very clean and bright. Take lots of pixs there. If you kids want to lay in the hammock, there's one in the Fantasia section where Donald and Daisy is hiding behind the plants.

Which ever resort you go with... you will have a "Magical" time!!

For the age your kids are, I would go with the AS Movies and use your cash for some nice meals out or better yet a couple character meals on your quieter days. They will love the theme ! The main pool, while no slide is cute. Next to it they have a kids water play area with water squirting all over. (I have pics of it but don't have a clue how to post them) and they also have a nice playground. You have the quiet pool by mighty ducks (we stayed there - newly renovated) and sometimes there is water squirting by the Herbie "play area". You can climb about the Toy Story area too. And since you'll have time you can walk on over to Music and Sports for more fun.

Once they are a few more years older and really looking to slide alot, then I would bump up.

At 5.5 and 4 I don't know that they will be any differnece in there opinion of the hotels....WL does have a huge lobby and a small stream...but my kids lots older then yours love the POPL stuff better then the WL stuff. But as adults you get queen size beds at WL that you don't at ASM...which is a big plus for me..

When my niece and nephew were around 4 and 2 we took them to Disney. When they saw the All Stars they wanted to stay there over the "nicer" hotel we had them in LOL! At the age of your kids, the All Stars will probably be a HUGE hit. Colorful, oversized, just fun and LOTS of other kids!

the beds are VERY SMALL at POP and im sure they are the same size at all stars.. I stayed at Sports back in 2001 and the first thing i thought was "this is so cheesey for adults but kids would love this. "
so i think im going to be selfish and stay with WL. Maby next trip we will stay there although im already looking into AKL or CSR... we could always go there to eat!! I love the food courts there.

We stayed at ASMo when my boys were 4 1/2 and 2 1/2. Our room was in the Toy Story section and they loved it. The could have spent hours just playing in Andy's room. They loved the pool (any pool at that age). We did go to TL one day and my older DS loved the kiddie slide there.

This trip we have added a DD to our family and we are staying at POR. My boys want to stay at POP or one of they AS.

I am not really worried because they will have a great time no matter where we stay and so will your kids.

I would stay at ASMo and buy some extra goodies or go to a water park one day.

we have only stayed at all stars. We loved all of our trips. my dd is now 16 , but she has liked it there since she was younger. We have stayed at Music like 4 - 5 times, and Movies 1 - 2 . We really like it there. Rooms were always clean, neat. we bring our own shampoo, but DH uses the one there.haha. front desk has always been nice and helpful. the pools are a lot of fun, even though there is no slide , my daughters still had a great time. the food court was great. anything you could want basically is there. From steak dinners ( night time dinner), burgers, wraps, breakfast was great, etc. really the food was really good to. the smaller kids enjoy the pool area just for them. i really think you guys would have a wonderful stay at the resorts (esp. movies -with dalmations, etc. ) . you can also walk from Movies to Music and eat or swim. i have not stayed at Mod. but maybe someday, but i think saving all that money for meals, et c. would be great. Enjoy , no matter where you stay..............

I love  the All Star Resorts --they can't be beat. I have visited WDW more than a dozen times with the 1st time in Oct. 1971. :goodvibes I've stayed at FW, Disney Inn, a few the of Hotels on hotel Blvd., CBR and the towers at the Contemporary. I got to see the MK from my balcony at the Contemporary and I'm happy :flower1: I got to experience it once. I just prefer the All Star Resorts.
If you are using the buses they are wonderful. Mk is 25 minutes away but MGM,Epcot and AK are only a 10 min ride.
The theaming is pure Disney. :earsgirl: :earsboy:
My last 4 visits have been at The All Stars and this fall when we take dd,dsil, and our grandson age 3 we are staying at the All Stars Music. I thought about AKL and even though we can well afford AKL I just wanted Alex to experience the Disney Magic :wizard: at the All Stars on his first visit. I can hardly wait. :hourglass
When we pull up to check in and I see those huge icons I know I'm at Disney :earboy2:
Linda ::MinnieMo
Just 66 more days :thewave:

Our family was struggling with the same question, ASMovies (son LOVES Toy Story) or moderate. We are now considering a split stay between the two. I'm still not sure it will be worth it to move in the middle of our trip, but it's just a thought.

As of right now, POFQ has no availability with the free dining, in fact, none of the moderates do. I may keep checking for cancellations, but I think we'll be happy at ASmo, so I'm not too worried. ASMo's fans have convinced me about the theming! We've already requested a room in toy story.

I feel neurotic about changing my mind over and over, but I just want the most perfect vacation I can make for my kids. It's our first!

Thank you all for your answers. I feel much better about where we are already staying!
