My Dh and I want to try this but we don't really know what it is except we swim with sharks. :goodvibes

Does anyone know the prices and did you enjoy it? From the pics on the web the pool looks small and I think we might pass it up. Please let us know what you think. :fish:

Where is this at ? U can swim the fish over at the water parks !

It's at Typhoon Lagoon and I don't recall how much it cost- we did it 8 years ago! The water was COLD! and the "sharks" were no larger than 2 feet long and they were sand sharks I think. Maybe someone else has better info...

Its included in the cost of the admission to Typhoon lagoon! If I remeber correctly the sharks are leopard sharks

You can only swim on the surface of the water
you go from the starting point to the reef if you need to stop and then continue on tothe stairs and you can only swim towards the stairs
this was from about 4 yrs ago if any has changed idk

This hasn't changed. It is still included in the park admission. The only catch is that you cannot move your legs when you swim across. :fish: You can only use your arms. Some people were having difficult with this. It was a fun experience and the water was FREEZING! :cold:

Enjoy! :thumbsup2

We just did it in Oct. 2005 and it IS included with the admission price.
DON'T miss this-- My husband and I each went twice because you are a little nervous the first time to really enjoy it!
As said before, the water is very cold, but you get used to it (or in my case I was probably to scared to notice I was cold :) )
You are snorkling so you stay on the surface and there is a huge boulder in the water about 8 ft. from the beginning where you can take a minute and regroup, then continue to the end.

It was great!! :woohoo:

The water is cold and salty - and deep! The idea is to float on your belly and use your arms to propel you accross the water. There is a reef in the middle that you can stop and sit on to rest (sit - don't stand!). If you don't want to snorkel with the sharks there is an observation area that looks like an overturned boat where you can look through the portholes.

I really wanted to do it but I am a huge chicken and wimped out in the water when I saw how deep it is. Of corse, I don't swim well and have an overwhelming fear of drowning - I was also alone. I'll try again when DH is with me - my personal floatation device!

Coolest thing in TL, included in admission. They say if you can't swim, don't try to learn here. Water about 70 degrees, salty and very clear. Alot of sharks and other tropical fish, once the shock of the cold water gets over you, the bouyancy vest helps hold you up and they say, to doggie paddle with your hands, no leg movement and do not try touching the fish. Its a gotta do !

This is one of my most favorite parts of Typhoon Lagoon. I try to go through as much as possible. (Of course, I'm a shark freak :teeth: ). I say go for it!! :thumbsup2

My only issue was that I have glasses, & since you have to wear a diving mask I couldn't wear my glasses, & couldn't see very well. It's also relatively short- you can only swim in one direction, and aren't really allowed to stop. However, since it's free you could always do it again.

If you're really interested in swimming with the fishes, you might also check out the Living Seas Aqua Tour. That one does cost extra $75-100, I think), but you're using actual scuba equipment (even if you're not certified), and you get a whole hour in the actual Living Seas aquarium (after an hour of instruction and practice).

They also have snuba with the sharks at TL. I beleive the price is $30.00 and you get a regulator with an air tank for a certain length of time, I think 30 minutes. They give instruction and you get to go in and enjoy. We signed up for it and backed out. The reason we backed out, doing scuba and snuba we though we would be able to be submerged. You are not, you are only allowed to stay on top of the water and enjoy the fish with a regulator. :confused3
I love this attraction and could repeat it over and over again. The sharks are larger now, probably about 5-6 feet, but they stay pretty much on the bottom. Don't miss....... :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

We enjoy going through this area as well. It is usually fun unless DW is trying to feed me to the fish :) The water didn't seem that cold after we got in.

I think this is not to be missed. I did it several times on my trip(s) and is something I plan to do on my next trip again... don't miss it.

It is included with park admission. I went in Sept, it was about 95 degrees out and really humid and that water was COLD! But I was so scared at first I didn't even notice. If you have any interest in seeing some really cool fish, try it. I have a huge fear of drowning. I don't float, I sink. So I thought I would be struggling the whole time especially since you cannot use your feet. That was not a problem at all. I get myself a small push off at the beginning and just floated until the end. It is no extra cost, there was no line for me, and you can go as many times as you please. It is worth a try. The only thing you have to watch out for are the persons feet in front of you. :lmao:

TY sooo much for all the info. I have to admit though i am alittle afraid, nut my DH says disney would not let you in if the sharks weren't safe. :goodvibes

Leave it to DH to pull a disney on me. :rotfl2:

TY again. :yay:

My youngest son is not a very strong swimmer...but is adament that he is going to swim with the sharks...is there a life guard?

DH and I did it last June. It was neat, but too short! Before you know it, you're across to the other side. All the other people who were supposed to go at the same time as us hesitated, so we pretty much had the pool to ourselves. You just float on your stomach & drift across the pool, steering with your hands. The sharks were only a couple feet long. It was cool to see them that close! Just be sure to wash your snorkel first. Try it!! :fish:

We just did this last Friday. DS is 6 and is a good swimmer, he had the hardest time with the snorkel. Actualy, that is the thing we ALL had a hard time with. You HAVE to use one. Dd is only 4, she can't swim, so they gave her a life jacket to wear, but she couldn't get the breathing right, so she had to sit out. There is a lifeguard in the water at about the 1/2 way point, maybe 10 feet. He actually guided Ds the rest of the way which was even better for him, he could really enjoy the rest of the way without worry. It's really tough for them not to splash and kick when they swim, they only want you to use your arms. HTH. :sunny:

I took my DS in when he was 6 and not a strong swimmer. I had him wear googles instead of the snorkle. That seemed to work for us, he loved the experience. Now ten years later he enjoys it by himself. There is a lifeguard in the water about half way through to help you if you get in trouble.
