Swimming in Bay Lake, and I may dump my Disney Hating Sister in with me.

Hi Marisa, haven't posted yet but have been following along on your PTR. Yes, we are in double digits now...I almost missed it too with school and everything. All I know is that I am ready to go NOW. I can't believe winter break is almost over but the good thing is that the next big break from school will be spring break. Woo hoo! Anyways...

That is awesome you got to go to AZ. We went a couple years ago (mostly for Brewers spring training, haha). I saw the pic of you guys on Camelback Mountain on facebook. I remember seeing it but we didn't climb it. Jealous about the Grand Canyon! That must've been neat.
We will be in Disney before we know it.
I paid my dues with my family this year.
I loved everything we did, I saw all of the 5 Great Lakes, Niagra Falls, Walked the Mackinac Bridge and saw The Grand Canyon, but I can't wait to go back to Disney.

I'm joining in too! All your training is completely inspiring. Wow! I dream of even doing a 5k, but I have hardly any discipline.

Sounds like you had a great holiday!
Thanks for joining. Did you see the ball drop? That is on my all time favorite list to do.
My dh knows someone that lives in Manhattan and he begs my dh to come visit every year, but my dh is a type of person that won't impose on anyone, he rather get a hotel and spend a few hours with someone. This year we went to Sheboygan and watched a wedge of cheese drop. Only in Wisconsin.

I started a year ago with running. Seriously, I could only run 3 times for a minute out of 30 minutes. After a year, now I can run 6-7 minutes with a 2 minute walk interval. Hopefully I can get it up to 10 minutes with 2 minute walk.

Will also be there the same week as you, staying at the BWV. I feel like you may have been going when I was there last Thanksgiving 2009, or around that time?

Yep-it was my "Empty Nest Vacation" except all my kids managed to come at various times. What are your exact dates?

:rotfl: Oh boy, that is hilarious. You are right...only in Wisconsin. :rotfl:

Nice pictures from your trip...in the first one it looks like that one guy is about to try to fly off the mountain or something. hehe

we all thought he looked liked Russel Brand,:rotfl:

Great pictures from your vacation! I'd love to see all those things someday. Just beautiful!

We watched the ball drop via live webcam. No way do we want to go into Times Square that night! Once you are in, you aren't allowed to leave and you have to get there EARLY in the day to actually be in viewing distance. I have a friend who did it once and she said it was great, but man....I'd rather be cozy in my bed watching online. However, even most of our focus was on the other computer watching the Magic Kingdom fireworks. :cloud9: We hope to make it to see them again this year!

If you ever do come to NYC let me know! We will have to meet up! There are tons of fairly cheap apartments you can rent if your husband refuses to impose, so then you won't be forking out $300 a night for a shoebox of a hotel room.

HOW FUNNY about the cheese!!!! That is very true, only in Wisconsin! I love it! :teeth:

That is just fantastic about your running! It really is inspirational. I was working on the Couch to 5K plan this summer and was doing 10 minutes running, 5 minutes walking, 10 minutes running - but man, that was HARD! I think I only did that a couple times. I haven't been regular with my running, so now I just try to run for 10 minutes straight. I'm hoping to bump it to 12 or 13 soon. I've done 20 straight a couple times, but I almost died. LOL! A 2 minute walk in-between....that is a dream for me!

Just read through everything. I am so impressed by your dedication and training to do the triathalon! You're amazing! :worship: I'm so excited for you. :goodvibes If I actually had proper technique for swimming, I'd think about doing one.

I'm so jealous of your family trip and getting to see the Grand Canyon! That is high on my list. :goodvibes

The Grand Canyon brought tears to my eyes, it truly was over whelming.

Callie got her tonsils out yesterday and I haven't trained in a few days. I stepped on the scale in her pre-op room, shouldn't have done that. I sure hope that scale was off. I've been taking a lot of Advil for the last couple of days, I don't know if I have a cold or just a stress headache.

That's cool about renting an apartment in NYC, maybe in 2 years.

I found out some sad news this week.
The people that sponsor the Tri-Athalon in September, "Trek",
is not holding it on Walt Disney World grounds.
They are moving the race 20 miles West of WDW.
In ClearWater Florida.
I sort of was freaking out about swimming in Bay Lake, it is suppose to be very polluted.
On Trek's Face Book page it stated the facilities are set up for Iron man Races and Tri-athalons.
The Lake is spring fed and is suppose to be very clean.
I think because they emphasized the clean lake at Clear Water,
Bay Lake is the problem at WDW.

So, now I have to decide if I really want to spend the money to do the race off site.

I am planning on doing one before I go to Florida, in August.
I will be doing the race August 21 in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconisn, which is on the border of WI/IL.

In May Danskin still holds their race at WDW, so do I wait to do the race in 2012. The whole point of doing a Tri-athalon, is to do it at WDW.
I want to celebrate my 50th birthday at WDW, which is over the Labor Day weekend, but now my kids found an "all inclusive trip" to Germany for Germanfest. They want to go September 16-23.

I keep asking my dh,
what he wants to do.
I know he would love to go to Germany,
but he also wants to go to WDW for my birthday and he asked if we could do both. I know we both couldn't get off work for that long and I don't need to do the race any longer at WDW, since technically it isn't being held any longer at WDW.
I don't need the free dining either at WDW.

So lots of thinking on my part.....and hopefully I can get back to the YMCA tonite and get working out.

Oh boy - big decisions. That would be a hard choice...Germany would be fantastic! I've always wanted to go there. But, WDW for your birthday is very special too, plus what you have already planned on.

Regardless of your decision, you'll have an awesome and memorable trip!!

We still have not made a decision. I looked at airline flights to Germany and found US Airways tickets for $500 a piece. We would fly from Chicago to Charlotte NC then to Germany. The layover is only 1.5 hours. I'd rather fly non-stop, because I wouldn't want to miss the flight to Germany.

This is such a hard decision. I'm not a big beer drinker and my kids all in thier 20's, would want to celebrate Germanfest. I'd be the sober one, basically makes sure everyone is okay.

Omari,
My DH and I just went Germany in September to celebrate our 20th anniversary. Don't let drinking beer be the only reason to NOT go. My DH and I are not beer drinkers either. You should go!!! OMG it was so beautiful and I was even able to have a DIS meet 2 in fact half way across the world!! If you are talking about wanting to go to Oktoberfest, you should plan now. A word of warning hotel prices tripple during that time! We went but stayed well outside of Munich, it wasn't for us at all to crowded and to many drunk people. I would go back to Munich but not during Oktoberfest. The rest of Germany we LOVED!!! We are already planning our trip back. ;)

Oh and the airfare! That is a great deal I would snatch it up if I were you. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask how we planned I'm happy to help.

There is a resturant in Milwaukee that holds its own Okotober Fest the whole month of September. They set up tents and have bands every weekend. They have a package for Friday-Sunday for $800. After that you are on your own. So we thought we would stay a few more days. I am so torn with this decision. We have until Jan. 31st, which is actually coming up fast. Thanks for this info. I'm sure I'll be asking lots of questions, especially if we stay longer.

Good luck with your decisions! Any chance to go to Europe I would jump at. :thumbsup2
I know, I just asked my dd to think maybe going next year. You know what it is like working for a goal. Would you have run the 1/2 marathon at Disney, if they decided to move it off the grounds?

I don't know. Guess it would depend how far away it was.

That is a fantastic deal on the airfare!

As for me with the marathon, I probably would not participate in one that wasn't on or VERY near property.

Signing on! :goodvibes Sorry it took me forever to get here.

WoooooWeeee! Lady! You are doing so well in your training, I'm so proud of you for not quiting even though that doctor told you not to do it. What a great guy. :snooty: I would tell him he's not your boyfriend any more and move on. :rotfl: This is what my girlfriend told me her friend did when a doctor she really admired and thought was kinda cute told her she needed to start losing weight (and trust me...this woman did not need to) and to consider some sort of other thing that signified she was getting old (which she wasn't-in her 30's). She told him..."Your not my boyfriend any more and I'm finding a new one!" :rotfl:

I thought it was funny. :confused3

I haven't read everything, so I'm going to catch up! :goodvibes

Here is my top pictures of our vacation.
My family didn't like me taking pictues,
but they all down loaded "my" pictures for their collection.

Camel Back Mountain in Phoenix/Scottsdale actually AZ.

Love this picture of you guys. :lovestruc Such a fun picture, it truly looks like you were having a good time. :goodvibes

Waiting for our "Dam tour" at Hoover Dam.
Phoenix_170.jpg

Bellagio in Vegas.
The dancing waters just finished. It was my highite of Vegas.
Plus we watched "The Pawn Stars" tape.
Phoenix_220.jpg

I went there a few years back (girlfriend since 7th grade lives there) and the Bellagio was my favorite place to see while there, but my highlight of the trip was seeing inside the Bellagio at the Monet display they had going on there. I'm not one for gambling and I don't drink to party so this was truly a wonderful highlight of the trip.

The Grand Canyon brought tears to my eyes. It truly is over whelming.
Phoenix_257.jpg

These are great pictures!!! I've only seen pictures of the Grand Canyon and I've only seen it on t.v., but I can imgaine that it would be very overwhelming! I see things in nature like that and many other things and think what an amazing God there is to create such beauty, and then to know that He thinks we are his master works of art....just puts me into a whole other tail spin!! :faint: :goodvibes
