This year, in October, I would like to stay at a moderate resort (POR or POFQ) rather than at a value resort. My DD loves the ASMo pool and would be a little disappointed with this decision, however. I know you can use both pools at Port Orleans (and maybe pools at other moderates?) but would we be able to go over to ASMo just to use the pool for a day?

Thanks
Sue

The rule is that you may only use the pool at your resort...Sorry no pool hopping.

I think you DD will love both main pools at PO...they both have slides and are much more "themed". She'll quickly forget about the old pool. Have a great trip!!

zurgswife is correct
Pool hopping isn't allowed at WDW Resorts unless you are a DVC Member then only at select pools. (You must have Membership Card and valid Resort I.D.) They do check resort I.D.'s::yes::

Pool hopping isn't allowed, but you're right that you can use the pools at sister resorts, so you can use both POFQ and POR if you stay at one. You shouldn't have any problem keeping her amused with those pools since they're both more exciting than any of the All Star pools.

Wow I didnt no that. Last year we went to the POLY and AKL we never had any problems nobody asked us for an ID card either. Well now that I no that I guess I wont be doing that anymore.;)

No pool hopping at disney resorts. She will think the pools at the por are just fine!

We stayed at OKW last year and as DVC members at a DVC resort were allowed to pool hop. We swam at the Poly pool and no one even checked for ID. It would be impossible for Lifeguards to check everyones ID who got into a pool, I am sure guests would soon complain too if pestered for ID every time they went for a swim. Pools at POR are much better than AS anyhow::yes:: Another reason I prefer to stay at a moderate or deluxe resort is for the pool slides and hot tubs.

It would have been nice if they had asked for ID from the large group that came over to the Polynesian on the MK boat and were swimming in shorts/t-shirts. :p

They checked our id when i swam in stormalong bay in august. They checked everyones id and turned people away who were not staying at the bc/bcv/yc.

One of the things that you can do is go to the All Star Resort and ask if you can use the pool there because your daughter loves the theming. Because you are already staying on property and not trying to use a really popular deluxe or other moderate pool, I would ask permission. If it isn't very busy, the resort manager may be just fine with your daughter swimming there, if that won't be possible, I'm sure you will still have a wonderful time!

Thanks for your replies - might just pay a visit and ask, as suggested - for old times sake, more than anything else. The only other dilemma I have is whether to stay at POR or POFQ - both pools look fun!

No one can poolhop at Stormalong Bay - not even DVC members. You have to be staying at YC/BC or BCV to use it.

This is EXACTLY what I was going to suggest~! It is what I have done from time to time. I have never experienced any problems using this method, and even make sure to obtain the name of the manager to give to the swimming pool attendants if needed. My DD is also sentimental, and missed swimming at some of the other pools/resorts we had stayed at in the past. As long as you obtain permission prior to "jumping-in", there should be no opposition/problem. Since most never ask (and just violate rules left and right), the management will probably be thrilled to oblige. We have always received a warm reception to our request. It's not like we have 15+ in our party...just the three of us. I would also offer a time-frame, say about an hour or two. Proper planning, and responsibility, go a LONG way at WDW! Enjoy your time in the MAGIC! :sunny:

P.S. ** Last summer, we visited SAB @ the B.C., after obtaining permission from the manager on duty. We informed him we had stayed at the BC before, and missed the pool experience. No Problem at all! Since we were staying nearby at the WDW Dolphin, he was VERY warm, friendly and receptive. We ate at B&C, and then swam and played for the afternoon. It was not very crowded, as it was late in August. We love Hurricane Hanna's too...and the great pool slide~! DD even selected a pearl from an oyster on our way back to the Dolphin. What a memorable afternoon.

Why not rent DVC points for your September trip and you can spend every day at a different pool!

Except, renters are not technically entitled to DVC member benefits. Only the use of the points. Non-cash guests are another thing.

This is the very reason we don't stay at the Polynesian anymore. I refuse to pay the high rates there to be stuck in a crowded pool that many did not pay to use.

I would never go over to Universal to the Hard Rock Hotel while visiting Universal and think I would be allowed to swim even though I have stayed there before and really like the pool. I just don't understand this mentality. If I like a pool, I book a room and use the pool.

Until they resolve this problem I won't be back to the Polynesian.

Sammie every time I've stayed at the Poly I've seen the lifeguard check IDs at least once. On every occasion they kicked someone out. I go during regular season and the pools aren't really that crowded to begin with.

I saw the lifeguards kick out a family last week. They had mugs from another resort, that was not a DVC resort. That's not why they got kicked out though.

Their kids were pushing and hitting in the kiddie pool while dad talked on the cell phone and mom sunned herself, oblivious. After the one kid grabbed the legs of a baby sitting with it's mom and pulled it underwater, I had enough and went to get a lifeguard.

The lifeguard came and one of the first things he did was ask for their room keys. Then he told them they would have to leave because the pool was only for registered guests at the BWV.

There were several parents that were more than happy to see them leave. He definitely used the resort pool rules as a way to get rid of them, rather than commenting on their children's behaviour. Certainly less confrontational I guess.
