I know that a while back, swiffer wet jets were causing some pets to die of kidney failure due to the floor cleaning solution. Have they switched the solutions and are they now safe for pets? I would love to own one and it's on sale at target for $16.49 this week. Any and all information will be gladly appreciated!! TIA!

That whole thing about Swiffer being bad for pets was an urban legend. Here is the info from Snopes You can go ahead and get one for yourself and enjoy the sale!

Go for it, I love my swiffer. It makes washing the floors ALMOST enjoyable.
It really is the easiest and quickest way I have ever found to wash a floor and it smells really nice after. Great price. :thumbsup2

Thank you. I have 3 cats and I was really worried. I have ceramic tile floors which are SO HARD to clean sometimes. I have wanted a swiffer wet jet for the LONGEST time and now that they are on sale....I'm gonna get me one!

Thank you ladies!!

My boss's son in law works for proctor & gamble. When she asked him about using it (they have an indoor cat)...
he told her not to
....:confused3 .I double-checked with her today & she said today that his reasoning behind not getting one then was that when they 1st came out they were so expensive....

sorry... I wasn't trying to mis-inform...
(I knew that I had heard about pet problems w/ the swiffers somewhere).
I'm really vigilant about my family's/pets health ....I don't want to expose them (or any one else) to anything harmful.

it hasnt killed any of our pets and I have been using it for years.. :confused3

My pet is still alive and I've been using it since it was first marketed. I have a love/hate swiffer relationship. I love that it's easy to use, but I hate the solution. Even when I use it sparingly on my laminate floor, it leaves a nasty film. I think they do that so you need to keep mopping. :rotfl: And I try to be environmentally conscious, so I hate the waste from the pads. I do still use my swiffer, but I have a microfiber pad from Target that sticks to the swiffer just fine and I use vinegar and water to mop sometimes to pick up that film from the swiffer solution.

I dont have pets, but I love my Swiffer products!

I have the Wetjet, Vac and the regular.

Someone posted here that they were able to refill their Wet bottle. I would love to put vinegar and water in mine so if anyone knows, will they please post.

Well this is a relief. I got the wet jet for Christmas and I told someone I got it, they told me that it's harmful to pets - which worried me silly because we have a dog (which we rescued and I'd hate to think that I rescued him to then be the cause of harm to him!!!!) anyway - THANK YOU for clearing this up cause now I can mop the entire house (WHITE TILES ARE THE DEVIL) without worrying about my poor dog.

Our Walmart has the wet jet for 17.99 all the time and if you go to the swiffer website you can get a 5.00 off coupon sent to you (plus a bunch of other coupons for refills, other swiffer products, Mr Clean cleaning supplies, Dawn, etc). I got mine and ended up paying just over 12.00 for the wet jet.

Oh, and I have a dog and cat that always stay inside and have never had any issues using one (our last one went missing during our move which is why I bought a new one LOL).

I am able to refill my Clorox Ready Mop. I actually have 2 bottles that I fill and interchange. I make my own solution for my kitchen laminate floor. I does leave streaks, but after you walk on it for awhile they seem to buff out.

Homemade laminate floor solution(it's not mine, I found it after searching on internet):

1/3 part rubbing alcohol
1/3 part vinegar
1/3 part water
a couple drops of dishwashing liquid.
