SWEET SIXTEEN :Have they been kissed? PTR: Updated 8/15

Good Morning Rosie! (....and Christine!!) :goodvibes

Mornin' Marv!! :wave2:

A question for you - I see you've owned at AKV for several years - Rosie and I are probably going to rent points in 12/12 and stay there..our second choice b/c my friend who rents points does not own at BWV our first choice. Anyhoo....I've stayed in a reg SAV view room at AKL..any suggestions for AKV SAV room? Would OKW be a better option (she owns there too). Rosie and I prefer the lighter decor of BWV & OKW, but I know Rosie would love that SAV view. ( We could rent from a BWV or BCV owner, I'm hesitant to rent from someone I don't know over on the rent/trade board and David's Rental charges much more.) TIA!!

Christine, I will try to answer your question here so hopefully others can benefit! Most people suggest (at least in the past) requesting your room along the Zebra Trail section of AKL so you get a view of the Arusha or Uzima Savannahs. These are good for viewing the gazelles and impalas I think, and they all pretty much provide an opportunity for viewing the giraffes. We had a SAV room at AKL once and it was on the Sunset Savannah, so I haven't been in one of the other rooms yet.

However, now that construction has completed on Kidani I'm not so sure the expanded sunset savannah wouldn't provide the better variety of animals. You would not only get the giraffes and zebras, but also the cranes and the ostrich plus many of the other larger animals. I guess it is just a matter of preference which animals you care to see while sitting on your balcony. There are viewing areas available around the resort so you don't have to miss anything no matter where you stay. Of course, SAV rooms have a larger number of points attached to them, so staying at one of the other resorts (like OKW in particular) won't create as much of a $$ burden on the trip budget. Since it is Rosie's BD celebration, that may not really matter! I'm pretty sure she will only turn 65 once......... :rolleyes1

Of course the big concern with the SAV room will be Rosie attempting to dance around one of the balcony poles thinking it will attract more of the animals for better viewing, OR........ the risk she might jump over into the Savannah and attempt to ride a zebra or something!!! :rotfl:

Hope that answers at least some of your questions. If I missed something just feel free to ask......:goodvibes I'm sure Glenn can chime in with additional opinions also based on his experience.....:thumbsup2

Thanks so much, Marv! Last time we were on the Arusha Savannah, Zebra Trail - we loved it!! I wouldn't mind the view you had in your PR either. Was that standard or value? Rosie and I talked about other options - even the new Animation resort, but renting points is such a good value...and..this has to be a Deluxe trip!!! ::yes::

Do you prefer AKV to OKW? Glenn, do pop in and add your suggestions.:thumbsup2 Rosie and I are settling for AKV, but our perfect birthday trip would be BWV or BCV.

Oh and it is my birthday too!!! Our birthday trip is to celebrate both of our 65th birthdays!! Of course, Rosie's is in March and mine is November so she's much older.:rotfl2:

What?!?! Bare Back Rider???? :scared1: And just think, I wanted to be a NUN! ::yes:: Holy Moley, this is gonna be one heck of a celebration - let's hope I survive!!! :dance3::scared1: :faint:

Yes my mother suggested when I went for the interview for Grammar Schoolthat I not tell them of my ambition!!!:lmao::lmao:

I just realized that there was a question about AKV room locations and that is actually something I know quite a bit about! :goodvibes

I agree with what Marv wrote, but wanted to add that Zebra trail has another advantage as well: This is where the Mara (CS restaurant) and the pool are. So if you want easy access to refill your mugs, Zebra trail is ideal: just take the elevator down, walk a few steps (you need to go outside) and there you are.

Another thing which I really like about AKL is that it does not have as many bus stops to get to the parks as some of the other resorts: only at Kidani and then at Jambo and then it is off to the park.
