The wife, my 13 year old son and I made the drive down late Friday for a quick weekend trip and our first as DVC members. Despite having gone to Disney 30 plus times over the last 8 years, it felt new and exciting to experience it in a new way. Mobile check in since we would be arriving late coming from the low country after work. Our studio had the pull down Murphy bed and queen bed. Our room was a 3rd level corner room near the Paddock Pool. Only odd detail, I was surprised Disney didn't spot was the bathroom door stuck and wouldn't close properly with out a strong tug. Without inspecting it closely you could tell it was broken. The room had a large coffee machine with a Pot( I Like).

We kept our Saturday low key on resort. We ended up eating breakfast at the Four Seasons resort with Character dining. Goofy, Mickey and Minnie were there. The food there is a treat, though pricey you really feel like you get your moneys worth and then some. The buffet had a wide range of food, omelet station, fruits and the drinks including smoothies were delicious. My son and I met a friend and went to Epcot. We had just bought our annual passes for the first time in 4 years so we had to wait in guest relations to get them activated. There is nothing worse than standing in place in the heat in the middle of the day. When we finally got to park activities we realized how crowded it was for Food and Wine. We walked around World Showcase and only got three things from the booths as the lines were just out of this world. Nothing to write home about. I knew I was coming back in October so we didn't fight the crowds and left mid afternoon.

My wife met one of her girlfriends that lives in Winter park at the Paddock pool and hung out there for the time we were in the park. We got back about 3 pm and ordered quick service to go from Artist's palette. We had the pizza's and a ham and cheese sandwich along with some bakery/pastry items. I was pretty pleased at the pizza both in quality and price for value. The sugary pastries we ordered were too much, almost all icing and too sweet. My wife and her girlfriend ventured out to Epcot while we chilled out in the room and watched some College Football. Another Orlando friend of hers, met the two of them back at the Resort at the Artists Palette after they left Epcot. Her take was the crowds were too much to do much at all.

Sunday we woke up and hit Magic Kingdom early, bought the multi pass lightning lane(first time) and used it with abandon til our reserved price fixe lunch at Be Our Guest. We snacked on our favorites throughout the day, cheeseburger spring rolls, Cheshire cat tails, Beignets at Friars Nook and also tried the Queen of Hearts slushy(good)! Our lunch was very good, the server allowed my son to choose something else with no charge when the didn't enjoy his french onion soup. I always get so full on their bread, I always have to box up the dessert and it was no different this time. We chose the afterglow of our midafternoon meal to leave and head back to South Carolina.

The negatives-we missed out on the virtual que for Tiana's, lost some time in guest relations, and two hour shower late afternoon Saturday
The Positives- My teenager has mellowed regarding going to Disney and is more go with the flow than in years past, he wanted to try and do new things, and he came out of his shell some with our Florida friends. The crowds weren't terrible at Magic on Sunday. The Parade was great, though we only caught a part of it.

Our next DVC strip is in another weekend in October and we are staying at Animal Kingdom Kidani Village.
