Sweating upcoming summer reservation

I am looking for some folks similar experiences with this.

So I am going down to Disney with just my son after his high school graduation for a week the last week of June (the DW and DD are going to visit a relative in Amsterdam the same week).....however the issue is that I cannot make a reservation until March 1st (Im a year out so i would be borrowing)....our preferred resort is always OKW. But can folks give me any feedback on availability for that time of year and also making a reservation at that time?....I understand i may have to do a split stay or may end up at SSR, but just want to know if folks have made reservations in march for June or July???

If your booking at your home resort, you can always start booking at 11 months in advance of your check-in date. This applies even if you need to borrow points.

You can make an 11 or 7 month booking before UY starts. The borrowing is based on date of stay, not date of booking.

Why would you need to wait until March?
You booking has nothing really to do with UY. It has to do if points will be available when at the time of your trip. So if you have March 2017 and March 2018 points available then 11 at your home resort or 7 months for any resort is when you can book.

i cant believe i have been a member since 2001 and did not know this!!!!....but to be clear...my 2017 points are gone....i would be borrowing from 2018 as of march 1st

Your 2018 points already exist
(You can use those points to book cruises 24 months in advance). You never have to wait for points to "appear" to book, you just wait for the reservation window to open (11 or 7 months in advance)

And FYI, in December 2015, I booked my July 2016 trip, a trip that used up my 2017 points.

In December 2016, I will book my July 2017 trip, using my 2018 points.

When booking, what points you can use is determined by the dates of your stay. When you actually call to make the reservation makes zero difference.

It sounds like you have a March UY so for a stay in June 2017 you could have made the reservation in late July at your home resort and used banked 2016 points, current 2017 points or borrowed 2018 points. For a 7 month booking you can book starting on the corresponding date in late Nov.

Every UY can book at 11 months for a home resort or 7 months for a non home resort based upon room availability of course. The only difference between UY's is what points they are eligible to use for a stay.
