I am staying at the Swan for the first time and have some questions. I know they have smoking & non-smoking rooms, but are these by floor or by room? What I mean is do they have smoking rooms on certain floors and non-smoking rooms on other floors? I booked a non-smoking, king bed standard room, but was upgraded to a water view room. Are non-smoking king bed rooms available? Do you get the same tv channels as you in a Disney resort (i.e. the zippa-dee-doo-daa channel)? Also, does Mears go to the Swan?

I am hoping some of the Swan/Dolphin experts will answer some of the floating Swan/Dolphin questions. I honestly tried reading the nearly 2000 post FAQ thread, but could only make it to page 4!

Here's a bump :bounce:

I can only answer one - we got the "zip-a-dee-doo-dah" channel for a day or two, then instead it was a channel guide that listed all the channels - including several Disney info channels - but we didn't get them. I never called to ask why. It was disappointing - maybe just a temporary situation.

I'm sure some Swan experts will be able to answer your other questions.

We've stayed at the Swan several times and have always stayed in non-smoking rooms. On some stays we were lucky enough to have a studio room and these were non-smoking as well (to my knowledge). I have a non-smoking nose so if they were ever smoking rooms I couldn't tell.

I'm not sure how the smoking room assignments work, whether it's specific floors or sections of the resort. I do know we have stayed in a king room with a water view that was non-smoking.

And, yes, Mears does go to both the Swan and Dolphin. It's a beautiful resort, you'll love it and I've heard such wonderful things about the new beds, we haven't been at the Swan since they've renovated and I CAN'T wait to try these beds!! We're heading up in November! Have a great time!! (I know we will:p)

The beds are every bit as good as all the hype/comments. Every person is our party of six agree - and we're still talking about them to people when we talk about our trip.

We have stayed in the Dolphin - sister hotel across the water.
The TV shows one channel on what to do in at the S/D and a bit about WDW. But they are not WDW resorts. The are owned by Starwood Corp.

When we stayed in the CR - we had 3 WDW channels - things to do at WDW, times of shows, early entries, etc.
Not available at the S/D.

The font desk concierge is very helpful with PS, times, directions,
information. You just have to ask them during normal hours (about 7 am to 11 pm).

We have only had a non-smoking room.
If it it a medical requirment for you - have it stated on your
reservation.

Also - you can join Starwoods and receive points towards
stays in the future or other items (we received a $50 GAP gift certificate for our points) . Call 1-888-625-4988 or go to

enjoy your stay. :)

My DH loves the Dolphin (they have an office
area with e-mail, fax machines, computers with Word on them).
Yes, my DH brings work with him. We go to the pool in the AM.
Great time to use the pool - 9 am. Then we hit the parks around
noon (after lunch - hint EE parks thin out by then) and eat dinner somewhere in the parks (yes we make PS) before heading back after fireworks.

We just got back from the Swan, it is wonderful!!!!

I'm pretty sure the whole resort is non smoking now. People were outside smoking. I didn't smell smoke anywhere in the resort. And I can smell smoke a mile away.

Thanks all for the info. Am really getting excited about this trip!!!

Mrs. A: I too am pretty sensitive regarding smoke and was curious on how the Swan does their rooms.
