We are first time Disney resort guests 8/19/03 - 8/26/03. My hubby, myself and two boys ages 14 and 3 chose the Swan due to all the great info I have read here! Booked package thru AAA. Looks like we paid about $250 per night for standard room. Does this sound reasonable?? What are the chances of requesting and getting a balcony or a view of Epcot at the very least? AAA wanted $400 for an upgrade to concierge - can we strike a better deal with them directly at check-in?? One last questions please - does the Swan have those refillable mugs?? Oh - sorry one more question - can you see Illuminations from the hotel - not necessarily from an upper floor room?

Thanks for any help - much appreciated!!

Welcome to the DIS, Sweet Tooth! Does your AAA pkg include passes? If the price is for room only, it does seem high to me. If you look on the first page of the Resorts board or the home page of Disboards, you'll see that there's a special at the Swan/Dolphin thru Dreams Unlimited. I plugged in your dates for a standard room and the total inc. tax came to $1084.90(139pn &tax) The total for club level inc tax came to $1397.10(179pn & tax). Even if you go directly to the Swan/Dolphin hotel home pages, the rate is lower than your AAA quote. Good luck! We're looking forward to our first Stay at the Swan this May.

Thanks for the info, BuzzMe. Actually, we paid $3,200 total (which includes ultimate park hopper tix, airport transfers, insurance and the hotel). With AAA, we get $200 disney dollars for booking 7 days. So, I figure the room portion is about $1,900 (less the $200). Those are great rates that you mentioned. Since we would lose our deposit if we cancelled, as well as the $200 disney dollars - I guess it is a wash. Maybe Swan would honor a request for a balcony since we are paying top dollar?? Oh well, its only money no sense stressing over it!

Hey, have a great time on your trip. The Swan looks like a beautiful place in a great location relative to the parks!:D

The rates sound high but you will have a great time. And yes I believe they have the refillable mugs. At least I know the Dolphin does.
