If the "resort fee" cannot be waived as an option by guests who do not want the benefits that come with it, then the hotel should stop calling it that, add the $8 to all the room charges and be done with it! If it's no longer waivable, then room rate they are advertising is misleading at best and a lie at worst.
I'm scheduled for the Dolphin in November. Made my reservations before this change. Just a standard room. No balcony unless I use my Starwood points. But, the price was better than the other EPCOT hotels. Now that the Dolphin/Swan price has increased because of this fee, the other hotels are the same.
So, if the price is the same as the real Disney-owned Epcot hotels, and I'm assured of balcony or at least step out, why should I bother with these Starwood hotels?
No flames please.
