swan or dolphin at Christmas?

Am trying to plan a Christmastime vacation for extended family. My family of 4 usually does an early summer trip by car, but this year several other families expressed interest for a holiday trip which will make things a bit more complicated.

Was thinking about using teacher rates if they are available. Has anyone who stayed at Christmas have any insights? Will I be able to book multiple rooms at a good rate? Is Christmas week too crazy?

My family stayed at the Dolphin during Christmas '02. It seemed just as crowded as any other resort we toured. It was too cold to use the pool. I thought it was a great deal at teacher's rate but be prepared to book early!! You can reserve up to 3 rooms at teacher rate if you are eligible last I checked. The lobby is beautifully decorated and don't forget to bring along some extra things to put up in your room!

We just returned from the Swan for a 1 week stay. I booked 4 rooms at the teacher/government employee rate for our entire stay. I did it on line. I was the last of my party to check in. When the other members of my party checked in, they were asked for the goverment ID which none of them had. They were told to have me show my government ID or everyone would be charged a higher rate. I showed my ID at checkin and had no problems. It was a great stay.

I would also try and book early for teacher rate and as far as which one to stay at during Christmas time, I would say the Dolphin because the tree and the rest of the decrations in the lobby are amazing. HOpe this helps and have fun!!

available for the Teacher/Nurse discount, I would recommend you reserve the rooms as far in advance as possible. We stayed at the Dolphin the week before Thanksgiving last year and loved it. We felt it was as "Disney" as any of the true Disney resorts we have stayed at and even more so than some! Be sure to ask for a room with a good view of Epcot for Illuminations. Also, join Starwood Preferred Guests (SPG.COM) so that you can get a possible upgrade.
