If you're a Starwood or Marriott member, and you're redeeming points to stay at the Swan, Dolphin, Sheraton Vistana, or Sheraton Lake Buena Vista, make sure to reserve in the next few days before August!
As you may know, starting in August, all of the SPG and Marriott hotels are going to be reclassified into a new redemption structure. About 70% of the hotels are going to require the same number of points or fewer. But 30% of the hotels will become more expensive when using points.
The Swan and Dolphin have been really good deals under the old system, but they won't be as great when the redemption chart changes. They currently cost 36,000 Marriott Points (12,000 SPG points) per night. But starting in August, it will go up by 39% to 50,000 Marriott Points.
I'm really glad I caught this before the point increase, so just wanted to share. (Mods please move this if it isn't in the right place.)
