Swan and Dolphin rates?

I used to be able to get great rates at these resorts that weren't far off from moderate prices, but I've been looking for spring 2017 rates and the standard rooms with the fees are almost $350 a night. Am I just looking too soon? At that price point, I'd be looking at Yacht Club or Boardwalk.

Any tips for good deals?

Thanks!

when I priced my 2017 trip moderates were $250-$275; Yacht club was $460 and Boardwalk was $540...so $350 seems ok...we ended up getting Dolphin on Starwood points for a few nights, so saved there.

Hmmm yeah, if a discount comes out for the Disney resorts, I guess they'd be even (almost).

Just stayed there at $150. Just the time of year/what conventions they have.

And there will be a promo for that time at some point.
And this is why so far, we've never stayed at Swolphin, I could never find a savings to do so.
But, in 2 weeks we are doing 3 nights at Dolphin. The reason isn't because it's cheaper it's because the other resorts are booked solid.
The rate wasn't bad though, I could have saved about $150 had I booked a room that couldn't be cancelled. But I hate doing that so I paid a bit more to be able to cancel, just in case

Yes, the Swan and Dolphin used to be very reasonable (under $250) per night but over the past few years I've noticed less and less in terms of savings by staying there. Don't get me wrong, I think they are great resorts, but if they are going to price themselves right up there with a discounted rate of a Disney deluxe then I'd stay at a Disney property and get all the benefits, not just some. I know there's no discount yet with Disney for my timeframe but in the past S&D were still a better deal. I'm comparing their rate to Disney's typical discounted rate, not Disney's rack rate - because there S&D is less...but I'm saying they used to beat their discounted rates too.

Also don't forget the Swan and Dolphin's parking and resort fees Ridiculous

Finally! Someone else noticed. I posted a thread a few days ago on this topic, and nobody seemed to understand.

This is what major hotels do everywhere. Pretty much standard for hotel chains. These are not Disney owned or operated and are following industry standard why s this ridiculous.

You can get a good rate for S&D through their websites with no cancellation rates. Plus, they might now be considered Marriott since Marriott now owns Starwood.

Check the new pages of the Swan Dolphin thread here.

The thread's current author (the wonderful Dan Murphy :)) posts specials as he sees them.

I stayed at the Swan this past March for $147 per night (without resort fee) with an AAA rate. Originally, it was well over $250. Their prices tend to change more than WDW resorts. Keep checking.
