Holy cow...my sister just called. Her MIL has offered to bring her, DS and DH to Disney 11/29-12/3. 11/30 onward is considered value season and being winter time, my sister (and I) assumed it would be quiet in the World. But she had a heck of a time finding any open rooms and can't get any ADRs. What on earth is going on? They had originally planned to go 2nd week of December but there were zero rooms or flights then. Any ideas? Any adivce for her? They want to celebrate her DS(5) birthday down there but can't get into Chef Mickey or even Crystal Palace! I suggested Coral Reef with a special menu but she said she's heard the food there isn't great.:confused3

I am by no means an expert, but it I think it has something to do with it being Thanksgiving weekend and some kind of anual event that tends to draw a lot of people during the first week of December. Usually it falls in 2 seperate weeks, but the way the calendar falls this year they are running at the same time so it is going to be jam packed with people. I wish I had better info for you.

I think you're referring to the Pop Warner tournament and Mousefest. The Pop Warner tournament is usually held the 1st week of December, but is being held the 2nd week this year with Mousefest. That would explain the lack of rooms and ADR's for the 2nd week, but I'm not sure about the 1st week. I'm guessing part of her requested dates (Sat 11/29-Wed12/3) still coincide with the Thanksgiving crowd - specifically that Saturday night. I don't think the Thanksgiving crowd would leave until Sunday.

Maybe people are just keeping their kids out of school for an extra long weekend after the holiday? Although I told my sister I don't pity her too much seeing as she goes yearly and is going again with me in April. She can just "suffer" with her crowded Disney!:lmao:

Suggest she try the Tusker House character breakfast - I have heard good things about it here.

Lots of things going on - the events the PP mentioned plus the Disney Visa Free Dining promotion and Candlelight Processional. We are DVC members and have been on a waiting list for all of our trip since we first booked it several months ago. All of our dates have come thru on the waiting list except for the first nite. I called to try to get a cash room on property in case our waitlist doesn't come thru and all they had available was a 1br at AKL for $800 a nite! :scared1:

ADRs were next to impossible to get for any decent times. Good luck!

We were surprised by that, too! We took a trip the first week of December to WDW 3 years ago and it was WONDERFULLY low... NO lines for anything (we didn't do ADR's). When we decided to plan this coming trip, we figured it would be a good time, but we found the same thing you did. I agree with the pp, in that I think because Thanksgiving is late this year (it's on the 27th, whereas last year was the 22nd... quite a difference!), I guess there are just more people staying around after that. This "Pop Warner" thing I also found is the second week of December, so it shouldn't affect you (I think that's a good thing). I wouldn't worry too much about it, though... if they expect it to be busy (and maybe it won't!?) and just work with fastpasses and such and they'll still have a great time. It's BEAUTIFUL with Christmas decorations, and at least it won't be hot like busy time in the summer. :) I hope they enjoy the trip!!

I don't know whats going on but its crazy we were going to try for that week and couldn't get anything we decided to go 12/18-24 2 adults and 1 child we got an AKL package for 2500 as well as all of the ressies we wanted.
