Southwest has system-wide specials through 4/02 EXCEPT that Florida is blacked out from 3/18 to 4/02.

Looks like they're already doing a brisk business for Spring Break.

Oh dear.
Did you read that somewhere? Or have you found that out by trying to book a special fare? I am able to get $79. fares during that time frame. I wonder if it just in your area?

I was just checking fares for that time period for a friend and his dates 3/17-3/23 are not blacked out.
Where on the site did you see this blackout announcement.

They system wide specials are blacked out, BUT, not the 79.00 fly from the Northeast to Florida specials.

Gail -

Yep, last week I got the $72 promo fare from KC to Orlando for 3/27 and it seems to still be available, so I dunno exactly what they're doing. I guess it means you can't call and get them, only online. But this is what SWA says (for anyone else):

(Click on Specials at top of main SWA page, then on system-wide internet specials)

Hi - I'm bummed about Southwest too. We wanted to fly President's week and none of their "specials" is available to Florida from Hartford, Providence or Manchester to Orlando. To book it regularly would be about $400 per person. For five of us that is just too much! Any ideas or suggestions would be really great.

THanks!

how 'bout the 17 of feb and returning the 24th of feb.....MHT to MCO?
It may take some doing but if you are able to extend your vacation into the next week you will be able to get the $79 fares.
Put in your dates and when you go to the next page click on shortcuts to low fares at the top and see what you can do there.
I am glad that our February vacation in NH is the week after presidents week!!
I booked our air this morning, no problems, but we are going to Fort Lauderdale.
Good luck!!

HeatherC - I know how you feel. SWA isn't that great a bargain if you can't get in on the specials or promo fares. I was really beginning to sweat over airfare, so I'm thankful that we got $245 R/T each from KC over the spring break period. The upper tier SWA fares are as much or MORE than, AA, UA, NW or Delta.

Have you checked the AA fares? I noticed the "off-time" fares from KC were beginning to come down. They were about $200 R/T, so you might check your local fares - if you don't mind flying at sort of wierd hours like 5 AM. We have to drive 3.5 hours to the airport, so those were out for us.
