I just received an email from SWA about their 42nd birthday. Seems like they are having a Bag of SWAg Sweepstakes. So does this mean no sale? I hope not. Their birthday is June 18th. I guess we have to wait and see.

that might be a phishing scam. I have not recieved this email in either of my email acct and their web site mention nothing about this nor does their facebook page or their twitter acct. I would not respond to the email could be a phishing scam.

I got this email as well. So I don't think it is a scam. It is celebrating their 42nd birthday.

I got the email too. It's not a scam.
I don't know.. doesn't look good for the usual birthday sale does it? Especially considering they had quite the sale last week.

How do you know for sure its not a scam? Have you confirmed this with SWA.

I still would be leary about the email since none of their social media accts mention anything about it. especially with all the fake emails that Southwest has been addressing over the past year. And there have been several lately that Southwest has stated are scams. I would call Southwest to confirm. Just saying.

Because it came to my inbox from the same email that they send the majority of their promos, wasn't sent to my junk mail by my security settings that are very high, is a page covered in other southwest promo's, links directly to their site with the terms and conditions of their contest, buttons for booking flights, cars and hotels that link directly to their site, and has a veritable plethora of other Southwest information.
It's not a phishing scam.

Phishing scams claim to be from your bank or eBay or PayPal and claim that there's a problem with your account and want you to go to the link in the e-mail to "verify" your account information. Nothing about this e-mail (which I got as well) is anything like a phishing e-mail.

I had the same experience as Pigletto. I don't think it's a scam, but maybe only marketed in certain regions or to specific customers. I am hoping for a sale but I think it's too late to expect anything good for our trip in July.

I also received the 42nd anniversary e-mail. I don't think it's a scam either. And, about the sale they usually have for their anniversary with fares by mileage - they had it last week.

DH and I got the email, too. We got a ton of points back with last week's sale. Curious to see what (if anything) comes out this week.

I'm pretty sure the email was legit. I got it too and I think it is on their web page. I think they mentioned something about the birthday celebration going on for the next couple of weeks, so there may be a sale at some point. I'd watch carefully if you're looking for an airfare.

I too received the email. We have been dragging our feet with booking airfare and are still very hopeful for the birthday sale. I noticed the great fares I saw last week jumped about $30 per person this week. Hopefully I didn't miss the boat. UGH!!! Still hoping for late September.

There's a "sale" on the website for their birthday ("Celebrating 42 years of LUV for you") but I didn't find the prices different at all than last night. Some fares were actually higher than last night. Very disappointing.
