First, let me say I am a huge fan of Swa and they are my airline of choice for our trips from BDL to MCO. That being said, for our December trip (12/9-12/14) I have booked down at $79 and back at $69 on SWA but Song has 12/9 available at $49 and the flight times are better. (a 4-7PM direct - which is great - DD can get a full day in at school, but if we rush we can see illuminations!) My SWA bookings are both OW so I can change or cancel without issue and we'll definitely use the credit, but I'm worried about Songs Financial solvency.
What would you do?

I have flights booked on Song for February of 2006. Not worried about their finances for those flights. Several airlines of note have been operating under some sort of bankruptcy protection for quite a while. I would book the Song flight in a HEARTBEAT, and we are big SWA fans.

You should be fine. I like SW but have no reservations about flying Song and did so on my last trip. I prefer Song for the TV's but not for Logan Airport!

I flew Song in June and that was my first non SWA flight in over 5 years. I thorogouhly enjoyed the experience. Nice service, comfy seats, and great TV, movie, music choices for entertainment. i'll definately use htem again.

There is nothing to be concerned about. Any Delta bankruptcy filing will be Chapter 11, in which operations will continue as normal.

The airline I would worry about is Independence Air.

The only problem I see here is, you will probably get spoiled with Song.

i'm spoiled bc when we lived in MA we could use song to mco......now we have to use swa bc song doesn't fly to mco from msy....i'll miss it!!!

Thanks for all your feedback. I feel like a traitor, but today I did it! I booked the Song flights. We're going in Feb, so I'll use the SWA credit for that trip.
I'm really psyched about getting into MCo at 7PM instead of 9 or 10PM. And only a little concerned that DH will never go back to SWA after being able to watch the History channel for the whole flight! LOL!

Where did you fing $49 each way...all I see is $69. I will be going on the 9th as well and returning on the 11th or 12th!

I would book Song in a hearbeat especially at $49 each way!

I see it...it's out of Hartford instead of Boston!

Thanks!

tv's on each seat

competition is a good thing.

Normally I'd say go for the cheaper fare, but I personally got hosed by ATA when they pulled all their Orlando flights out of Midway (ironically, they're still around and adding a few MCO flights now). Because of that, I might be more inclined to stick with SW. That's who we fly all the time now, and at least I can feel comfortable with their financial situation.

What is the website for song? Thanks :cool1:

www.flysong.com

One thing I have read on these boards is that Delta/Song has a tendancy to randomly change flight times. We are going in April 2006 and Song has $79 each way out of Boston but I am leary of booking them. I always fly SWA out of MHT for vacations and just love their great service. :)

SONG is the BEST! If I can fly Song, I fly Song without hesitation! And I've not had ANY experience with Delta or Song randomly changing flight times. As far as their solvency, they're not going anywhere. I wouldn't be concerned about that at all.
