What type of ID is required for a 12 yr old to board a SWA flight? Would a school picture ID suffice or would he need a birth certificate? (I would hate to have to take a birth cert. with us)

:hippie:

ID is not required for under 18 unless they are traveling as a lapchild (under 2).

We've flown SW a number of times, they don't need any type of ID for anyone under 18. My older DD has shown her Driver's License since she got it, my younger DD carries her school picture ID, but they haven't yet asked to see it. Security does ask her what her name is, and how old is she, but that's it.

I've never been asked to provide anything for my kids either, but we do take the birth certs with us anyway, just in case.
