I had 300 dollars credit with SWA and though they initally promised to refund the entire amount, they only ended up refunding me 150. I went back and forth a few times with them, but I finally gave up. So, the credit expires June 19th and I don't go back to WDW until August. I would really like to make sure of the credit rather than let it go, but since we were 3 of us, they tell me I will have to pay 50$x3 to extend which leaves me with nothing.

I read on the transportation board that I can book a 'non-refundable' fare for 1 and then will have to pay only 50 bucks to extend. I'm guessing in that case, I would have to pick any other fare than the 'wanna getaway' one. Am I right?? I want to make sure it works out right so I'm not left with another credit for travel before August.

Any help would be much appreciated.

I'm assuming that you have 3 separate $50 credits. Go find a flight from anywhere to anywhere that will come as close as possible to $100 and use 2 of the credits. Once it's booked, cancel it and you will receive a credit worth $100. Now go find a flight worth as close to $150 as you can and use both remaining credits, then cancel again. You will be left with a single $150 credit. After it expires, contact Southwest and get it extended for $50.

just remember you won't be able to actually get the credit vocher til they expire June 19th, then they mail you the vocher. So it will be towards the end of june that you can actually get it to rebook. So, you may not get as great rates for Aug that late. I know before i have credits that expire in Aug 09 but i need them for Sept. If i wait til the end of Aug, my Sept rates won't be nearly as cheap as if i book them right now.

Actually it's just one credit for $150 but since there were 3 passengers it will be $150 to extend. So I have to make 1 booking for 1 passanger to bring the extension fee down to just $50.00. At least that's what I understand:confused3

See, that's what I was worried about. Now if I was brave enough to put it up on Craiglist or Kijji, lol.

Does the travel have to be completed by June? Or can you just make a booking in June for August?
I have seen them posted on kijiji, and as the seller you are in the better position. Maybe you could find a friend who would buy them?

The travel has to be done by the expiry date. Be careful with trying to circumvent their rules. They are pretty good about switching out fares but they definitely have some unbendable rules. Hope your case isn't one of those.

I know a few years back i used a credit for a flight. Even using the credit, I had to still pay more than the value of the credit to book the flight. When rates went down again, my new credit still had the dates of the original credit as far as expiry. I called and tried to get them to understand that I had paid much more than the original credit used and so would they consider that one used so my expiry would be the date of the new purchase. No go. They wouldn't change it. So, I learned not to book all our tickets on one confirmation number. If I have a credit expiring I book one single ticket to use the credit and don't switch that one out.
